About this deal

First of all, many of today’s digital pianos use stereo samples, which sometimes require two or even more notes for each key played. So, that being said, the S110 does have some advances made to its sound. Admittedly, when I played both of these pianos, it took me a few moments to realize that there was even a difference in their sound at all. From what I can hear, the extra bit of processing punch that the S110 has gives its notes a little bit of a more natural sound to them. The specification chart (below) details the main features of the two instruments and allows for direct comparisons to be made.

Master Tuning. You can change the central tuning of the keyboard in steps of 0.2 Hz, from 415.5 to 465.9Hz. 440.0Hz is the standard default pitch for Middle A. As noted above, P45 and CDP S100 have layering (dual) capabilities. Layering basically means that you can choose two (or more) instruments and hear those when you press a single key. With the CDP-S series, Casio uses their new 88-key, fully-weighted keyboard, which they call Scaled Hammer Action II.Though you’ll memorize commonly used controls over time, this is not an intuitive arrangement. Even so, the CDP-S100 does it right. In the simplest terms, polyphony is defined as the number of notes that can be played and heard simultaneously without losing a particular sound. The string sounds are less than stellar, but these will mainly be used in conjunction with the Layer mode where they don’t take the spotlight. This isn’t something you get on most keyboards in this price range, so its inclusion is very welcome.

YamahaP-45 88-key Digital Piano with Speakers: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/P45BK–yamaha-p-45-digital-piano Put simply, the CDP-S100 is designed to help you learn and love music. Created to inspire musicians of all ages and abilities, this new instrument redefines what an entry-level instrument can do. Good digital pianos will have nice key-action, great sampled piano sounds, nice speakers, and a durable build. However, certain features can also be applied to stage and gig use (though not without jumping through some hoops). At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I couldn’t see much of a difference here that would give the S110 an edge over the S100. If you really want a portable digital piano for gigging (or if you just really like traveling with your new friend), then you’ll be pleased to know that both of these instruments are quite easy to transport! There are some accessories that you get with your CDP–S100 such as a music rest, damper pedal, and power adapter. Still, you can add the following accessories to get it more adaptive.
