Doctor Who: Time of the Daleks | Board Game | BoardGameGeek
That is Time of the Daleks in a nutshell, as you can tell it is relatively straightforward, quick to set-up and when you get going it boils down to: roll dice, play cards, Dalek impression, repeat. It turns out hitting malevolent stone statues with sticks, swords, or even an M41A Pulse Rifle does them no harm at all. However, the problem with trying to stick together to prevent a sneak attack is that the parts are spread out across the map and it almost seems more prudent to try and split up first. When you move to a location and have an adventure, it feels like an episode of the show and when you get Amy and Rory matched with Matt Smith’s Doctor, there is a little thrill. The doctor must use what is left of the Tardis’ telepathic circuits to break the laws of time and enlist the assistance of their former incarnations and numerous travelling companions. I can see the expansions adding to the enjoyment with new companions and locations, prolonging the life of the game.

It feels like the sort of game that’s challenging until you defeat the Angels, but maybe lacks the depth to keep you coming back once you have. It’s delightfully simple: anyone who’s watched a couple of episodes of the show, especially during Smith’s tenure, will grasp the idea at once. These two games, made in partnership with Maze Theory and BBC Studios will expand the Doctor Who interactive universe. In Don't Blink, one player controls the side of the angels, while the rest of the players take on the role of the heroes trying to repair the Tardis.
