About this deal

There are various panel technologies. Each has its own specific features - viewing angles, color reproduction, response time, brightness/contrast, production cost, etc. The image quality depends directly on the type of the display panel used. In the Luminance menu, you’ll find brightness and contrast along with three gamma presets and the three HDR emulation modes. They don’t support HDR10 signals, but rather, they approximate the look of HDR through gamma manipulation. They also add varying levels of edge enhancement which ultimately reduces perceived resolution. I recommend avoiding them. The CQ32G2S has plenty of native contrast already. Gaming monitors can sometimes look a little OTT, but AOC has kept the flourishes subtle. There is a small amount of deep-red trim on the underside of the lower bezel, around the base of the stand, and on the rear of the display, which gives the display a touch of individuality. From the front, your main view is dominated by the large curved screen, flanked by pleasingly small side bezels and a slim lower panel featuring a small AOC logo. Information about the maximum vertical viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality.

If you have a PC capable of maxing out the display, you’ll be very happy with the CQ32G2SE. I played several games set to ultra at 165 fps and it’s a fantastic experience. The curved display definitely helps reduce any inconsistencies in brightness, but it also pays dividends when it comes to heightening immersion in games and movies. The perception of depth is amplified, and the screen feels wider than it actually is. This is a VA panel, a type of tech that traditionally offers slightly slower response times, and it's worth pointing out that the 1ms response time quoted in the monitor's specs is an MPRT or Moving Picture Response Time figure – that's not quite as impressive as using the traditional GTG or grey-to-grey method of measuring response time. When the action on screen is moving fast, the monitor can't always keep up, but we wouldn't say it seriously degrades the viewing experience (and we weren't able to test it with AMD FreeSync). Brightness, contrast and fluidity were all very good without being the very best in class – while serious pro-level gamers will probably want something that goes above and beyond what the AOC CQ32G2SE is able to offer, it's a great curved monitor for the rest of us, with some stand-out specs (like that 165Hz refresh rate). On the whole, it's going to get your games looking great, and at a larger size than many models can offer. Often even a higher peak luminance can be achieved under certain conditions. For example, when a smaller area/APL of the display is used for showing a bright object, when a bright object is displayed for a short time, etc.Away from gaming, the monitor is a very capable day-to-day computing screen as well – we connected it up to both Windows and Mac computers without any issue, and having access to so much extra screen real estate can make a real difference whether you're working on spreadsheets or binge watching a few episodes of your favourite show. Curved monitors are something of an acquired taste but the AOC CQ32G2SE is easy to get used to.

The storage humidity shows the lower and upper humidity limit, which ensures safe storage of the display. Storing it outside these limits might damage the display. The stand is a solid affair with 5/23 degrees tilt, 30 degrees swivel and a four-inch (100mm) height adjustment. There is no portrait mode. Movements have a firm and premium feel that makes you forget how inexpensive the CQ32G2S is. AOC doesn’t cut corners in its build quality here. Information of the number of pixels in a unit of length. With the decrease of the display size and the increase of its resolution, the pixel density increases. I have reviewed a lot of AOC monitors and have learned that they don’t all react the same way to image adjustments. The default Standard mode is reasonably accurate but minor green errors are visible in grayscale test patterns. Gamma runs a bit light out of the box and my initial attempts to adjust grayscale resulted in no improvement. Unfortunately, G-Sync is not compatible with this monitor, however, if you use an AMD GPU or games console the FreeSync activation window is very wide, keeping the action stable from 48Hz all the way up to 165Hz.

32-inch QHD VA Curved panel with 165 Hz, Adaptive Sync, and wide gamut color

The pixel pitch shows the distance from the centers of two neighboring pixels. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen. The most widely used panels are those with 6, 8, and 10 bits for each of the RGB components of the pixel. They provide 18-, 24-, and 30-bit color, respectively. The operating humidity shows the acceptable level of humidity, in which the display will function flawlessly. It sets a lower and an upper humidity level for safe operation and is measured in percentage. Dimensions, weight and color Information about the dimensions and the weight of the specific model with and without stand as well as the colors, in which it is offered to the market. Width

The CQ32G2SE supports automatic source switching and power-on, so once I’d gone through the initial calibration process I rarely needed to use the buttons. Display Performance Before Nvidia introduced their G-Sync Compatible driver, monitors fell into two categories: Nvidia G-Sync monitors, which required you to own an Nvidia graphics card, and AMD Freesync monitors, which (you guessed it) worked with AMD graphics cards. Now, though, thanks to Nvidia's G-Sync Compatible driver, Nvidia graphics card owners can also buy an AMD Freesync monitor and still take advantage of the screen's variable refresh rate tech. This opens up loads more of today's best gaming monitors for you, too. The dynamic contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce over time, for example, in the course of playing a video. In Color Setup, there are three color temp presets plus an accurate sRGB mode and a User memory with RGB sliders. The CQ32G2S can be calibrated to a high standard, and I’ll show you how to do that below. You also get AOC’s unique Picture Boost feature which highlights a sizable and moveable portion of the image with its own set of brightness and contrast controls.

First of all, you'll need to make sure FreeSync is enabled on your monitor. Not all FreeSync monitors have FreeSync enabled by default, so you'll probably have to root around in your monitor's menu settings a bit (the location will vary by monitor manufacturer) to make sure it's switched on. I’m pretty average at competitive shooters, so naturally, I take every advantage I can get. It’s hard to quantify, as sometimes I just have a good day, but I was consistently finding myself making hits and occasionally nailing head-shots on CS:GO. I found the gaming responsiveness felt just as good as many premium gaming monitors I have tried. Information about the maximum horizontal viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality.Peak brightness is the weakest aspect of this display, measuring just 248 cd/m². If you usually use your monitor in the evening or in a room shielded from bright sunlight then it’s sufficiently bright. In a very brightly lit room, however, it can look a little dull. Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. A higher resolution allows the display of a more detailed and of higher quality image. In productivity, the AOC CQ32G2S excels. Its curve is a non-factor for word processing or spreadsheets and there is no visible image distortion. The stand and screen height allow one to set the panel vertically so the eyepoint is centered. This ensures that the entire image is in focus from edge to edge. With my calibration in place, color accuracy was well suited for photo editing and graphics work. The high contrast made Word documents easy to read at the smallest text sizes.
