Cassio Moretti (31) is the Underboss of Philadelphia and recently widowed. Desperate for a new wife to mother his two small children—he’s too busy being a grump and killing people to change diapers—he agrees on an arranged marriage with Giulia Rizzo who’s a few months shy of 18 and obsessed with all things sunflowers. There is nothing sexier then a man who's barely evolved from Neanderthal, caring for a young child. I don't think I could have ever imagined a mafia boss caring for children, let alone changing diapers. The book is not explicit when it comes to violence, I could call it tame in that regard, and as I said before, this is strictly about the relationship between the leads and how it develops over time, so I’m gonna judge it from that angle, because you can’t judge a fish for its ability to climb a tree.
She loves to paint; she brought canvases with her. She sets up a studio and paints once. When she moves in, she mentions adding colour to the kids' rooms, and I expected her to have a bonding scene with the kids where they paint on the walls. Which would totally fit the story and her hobbies would be more than just a farce. I’m grateful I didn’t inherit your ambition. But in a world as traditional as his, choosing your wife is duty not pleasure. Their first umm...... Sleepover rubbed me in the wrong way and it took me a lot of time to start tolerating his presence in the book. Another major problem of this book is that the characters from other books were nonexistent. That's why I was disappointed because this book didn't have much connection with any previous books, she tried to make it a standalone so it was completely disconnected from the other books especially Camorra. Guilia was introduced in Twisted Emotions which is a part of the Camorra chronicles, I thought there would be scenes from that book or scenes with Kiara but we got none. I think Fragile Longing will also be a disappointment because it's standalone which means the author won't focus much on Camorra while the Camorra is supposed to play a huge part in the book. this dude belongs in the 50s/60s era because he made his wife, the h, do EVERYTHING at home. he just really annoyed me in the beginning because he just kept saying "Giulia is a teenager", "teenager is Giulia", blah blah blah. he also tried to force the h to dress up the way HE wanted to and he was mean to his pet dog! no one is gonna be mean to a dog. nuh uh. BUT i did like his development tho. he was actually pretty sweet and affectionate to his wife from the beginning which i found surprising since he's supposed to be the most ruthless Underboss but i didn't really get that vibe. That’s how he ends up with a woman—a girl—barely of age. She may not be what he and his children need, but she’s lovely and a sweet temptation he can’t resist.
I first read Sweet Temptation about a year and a half ago. I originally gave it 5 stars and I can easily say I loved it as much now as I did then. It’s such an effortless read, full of great characters, spice and just enough angst to keep it interesting. And the thing I need to say here is that I thought that I disliked Guilia's parents in Kiara's books but let me tell you now that I'm 100 % sure that I cannot stand them even a bit.
They weren’t prepared for each other. He hated her bangs, quirky dresses, and her obsession with sunflowers. I’ve loved her character since the start, she's kind, genius, and dealt with every situation calmly.
