About this deal

The fittest survive. What is meant by the fittest? Not the strongest; not the cleverest— Weakness and stupidity everywhere survive. There is no way of determining fitness except in that a thing does survive. "Fitness," then, is only another name for "survival." Darwinism: That survivors survive. Fort's ability to simply throw any science - dated while it may be by today's standards - clearly out the window can become frustrating as he discusses, as an example, why blood rained in a town in Spain. The man seems to have had no respect for science and would rather, and often does, apply his own twisted ideas to the events which took place. After Dean leaves to get supplies, Charlie reflects to Sam that the life of a hunter is full of choices that either end in blood or tears. Sam explains what had happened the previous year with Dean, and also explains how at the time Dean came and got him at College he thought hunting would just be one job - and then just one more. He eventually realized that he loved hunting, it is his life, but that he only wants to do it, can do it, with Dean at his side. He will do anything to save his brother. With God now mortally wounded, the Winchesters questioned if there was anything in the Book of the Damned that could help him, but Rowena informed them that the Book of the Damned was useless in their situation. Later, after the Winchesters came up with the idea to use a Soul Bomb to kill Amara, Rowena provided them with a spell from the Book of the Damned to achieve that purpose. The bomb was ultimately never used as Dean got God and Amara to reconcile and God removed the souls used from Dean. Damnation: Those who read from this tome are unequivocally damned. When the reader is slain, her soul is condemned to Abaddon, the Abyss, or Hell, as appropriate. Such is the ancient accord that prevents the taint of the blasphemous tome’s secrets from being carried into the goodly realms in the afterlife. Only the direct intervention of a deity can save a soul that has read from the Book of the Damned, and such powers are loath to break their eternal pledges.

Aside from being valuable as a compendium of baffling historical anecdotes, the book's real strength lies in two related aspects:

Castiel displays the knowledge of popular culture that Metatron left him in Meta Fiction when he recognizes the quote from Don Quixiote. The Book of the Damned: rain of frogs, flood rain in same place successive days, cannon balls, gelatinous substance, fish, ice, luminous spoked wheels in Persian Gulf, footprints, strange auroral like clouds in South Devonsire. F. Wesley Schneider. (2009). "Exodus". Princes of Darkness, p.62. Paizo Publishing, LLC. ISBN 978-1-60125-189-3 Dammed makes clear that hydroelectric generating stations were designed to serve settler populations. Governments and developers excluded the Anishinabeg from planning and operations and failed to consider how power production might influence the health and economy of their communities. By so doing, Canada and Ontario thwarted a future that aligned with the terms of treaty, a future in which both settlers and the Anishinabeg might thrive in shared territories. F. Wesley Schneider. Amber Stewart. (2011). Horsemen of the Apocalypse, p.42. Paizo Publishing, LLC. ISBN 978-1-60125-373-6 Throughout the remainder of 2023 and into 2024, Wanda Maximoff's mind became corrupted by the Darkhold which allowed her to learn more about the Multiverse and how to see other universes using the book's spells. Once she saw that her children existed in alternate universes and lived happy lives, she became obsessed with reuniting with them and finding a way to live in an alternate universe where they lived. During her studies, she learned of America Chavez, a supernatural being who had the ability to travel through the Multiverse. Maximoff used the Darkhold to summon inter-dimensional beings to find and capture Chavez. In an attempt to stop Dean from trapping himself in the Ma'lak Box with Michael, Castiel has Rowena go through the entire Book of the Damned in search of anything useful. However, Rowena can't find anything that can help and apparently curses Castiel out when he asks her to try again. [3] The Masters of the Mystic Arts were also aware of the book's existence and its connection to the Demon Chthon. They also knew that the Darkhold corrupted everything and everyone that it touched, and it was a magical object to be afraid of. [3] He turned to the Darkhold. Began dreamwalking. In hopes that our salvation might lie in the Multiverse." ― Baron Mordo [src]F. Wesley Schneider. (2009). "The City of Dis". Princes of Darkness, p.24. Paizo Publishing, LLC. ISBN 978-1-60125-189-3 The complete Book of the Damned can be used as a profane talisman, as an obscene reference volume, and as a gate to the multiverse’s most complete repository of unholy lore. The intrigue surrounding the book hasn’t died down in more recent times. In the 1920s, a group of archaeologists were rendered insane when they tried to translate hieroglyphics relating to the book.

The same hydroelectric development that powered settler communities flooded manomin fields, washed away roads, and compromised fish populations. Anishinaabe families responded creatively to manage the government-sanctioned environmental change and survive the resulting economic loss. Luby reveals these responses to dam development, inviting readers to consider how resistance might be expressed by individuals and families, and across gendered and generational lines. Castiel tells Sam that he had Rowena search through the whole book to try to find a solution to the Michael problem. However, even the Book of the Damned has nothing useful to them in it and Rowena apparently cursed Castiel out when he asked her to search again. Perhaps the book's most dangerous and deadly power that transcended boundaries of universes was providing its user the ability to dreamwalk in other universes. If the user dreamwalked in a universe for too long they could cause an Incursion between their universe and another universe, which could result in the complete destruction of one or both universes, as shown when Sinister Strange's pursuit of dreamwalking with his Darkhold caused the complete destruction of his universe. [3] The Darkhold, AKA the Book of the Damned or the Book of Sins, is ancient and evil. It contains powerful dark magic spells and is considered the most potent record of dark magic. It’s said that anyone who reads it will lose their mind...or their soul.
