The books contain about 12 walks each, and each walk has 30-40 points of interest so you'll be visiting around 1300 places so wear comfortable shoes. The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network.

Each month Richard compiles a list of 10 free and unusual things that you can do in London during the month, and over the months ahead. After the quick guide to the walk which also includes notes on how steep the walk is and if there are any steps that need to be climbed or descended (information which was very helpful as some in my family who are keen on walking aren’t so able to do steep climbs). This is one of the most beautiful hidden walks in London, with wooded areas, incredible greenery, posh park paths, great architecture, and creepy cemetery vibes. Following the success of Steven Millar’s first three volumes, London’s Hidden Walks Volume 4 introduces twelve new walks that will surprise and entertain the intrepid explorer. It has proved a great success with all those who enjoy strolling London’s streets and have an interest in its history. I bought this set used but in great condition so 4 stars for accuracy but 5 stars for value for money.

Stephen Millar has already enjoyed considerable success with London’s City Churches, also published by Metro Publications. He was brilliant; the walk was fascinating; always interesting learning about the history of the area around the Monument. By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. This set of three books is packed with interesting details about London's history with fascinating stories and more general historical facts. The book gives a great picture of the history of the areas, and focuses not just on existing buildings, but also the people who frequented the area.

It's really well-written, it includes a *huge* number of very interesting-sounding walks, and the photos are a definite enhancement. London's Hidden Walks Volume 2 is packed with interesting details about London’s history with both personal tales of those who wandered the same streets in former years and a more general social and economic history of the different areas covered. He is just one of the many pieces of secret London that combine to form this guide to the Curiosities of the Metropolis.

In the case of the latter, people might walk past them day in and day out for years and not notice them until somebody points them out. From pomp and splendour to quiet hidden corners, explore London and discover how 2,000 years of history have shaped this city. Accompanied by guided walking instructions and written by a local expert, A-Z London Hidden Walks is the perfect way to explore London in a new light.

Unfortunately my walking days are well over but reading these books have given me such lovely memories and even after all these years some things I hadn’t known and the photos were of places and things I would have chosen to illustrate the walks exactly. This new guide to hidden short walks in and around London provides a perfect way to discover hidden gems and truly explore the history and heritage of the capital. Following any of the 12 walks featured in each book will allow the user to walk in the footsteps of authors and statesmen, murderers and revolutionaries. Each stage of the walk is described, from where to turn, which road to take and even exactly what buildings and things to look at to get the most out of the walk. As the New York Times put it, the walk is “a highly entertaining… blend of historical commentary and bizarre anecdote laced with mildly scurrilous gossip about past and present celebrities and defunct royals. Each walk is brought to life with thumbnail photos, striking full-page photos and detailed maps illustrating the route and where buildings and points of interest are located. Always terrific value and possibly the best way to spend Two hours in London especially if one is a visitor or tourist.
