About this deal

Let’s start with ultra-low; similar to the lumen outputs, runtimes are also just about the same or even a notch higher than what’s mentioned on paper. The Nitecore EDC27 flashlight charges with a standard USB-C cable. One comes with this flashlight, but you can use any existing cable to top off the battery when needed. Nitecore says the EDC27 slim flashlight runs a 1700mAh 6.29Wh battery but doesn’t say much else. It’s certainly a built-in LiPO, and is not intended for exchange by the user. It’s definitely not field-serviceable!

Measurement disclaimer: Testing flashlights is my hobby. I use hobbyist-level equipment for testing, including some I made myself. Try not to get buried in the details of manufacturer specifications versus measurements recorded here; A certain amount of difference (say, 10 or 15%) is perfectly reasonable. What’s Included The first thing that you notice about the Nitecore EDC27 flashlight is its interesting flat design. This form factor is one that you’ll either love or hate. I like it because the light won’t roll off the table when I set it down. I wouldn’t mind having this flashlight in my work bag or using it for outdoor activities, like walking the dog, or even camping. But with instant access to Turbo (3000 lumens) and Strobe, I can see it as a useful tactical light as well! Nitecore doesn’t even state a runtime duration for Turbo, so I guess this sort of gets a pass – except they do claim 3000 lumens. It’s unclear if this is aimed at being the “FL1” claim (but probably). I think anyone should be able to observe from the light size that it would be unreasonable to expect 3000 lumens for very long – even if it was capable, there’s nowhere for all that heat to go.The EDC27 utilises two Luminus SST40 LEDs and a total reflective optic lens for uniform lighting beam pattern. Maximum brightness is 3000 lumens. The EDC27 is designed with user convenience in mind. It has a compact and lightweight body, allowing for easy carrying and storage. It also features a dual-switch interface, providing easy access to different modes and brightness levels.

This feature is especially useful when you’re in a situation where you need to conserve battery life and want to know how much longer your flashlight will last. The EDC27 is powered by a built-in 1700 mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery which is recharged via the USB-C charging port located on the side of the torch. Remove the dust cover and plug in the included USB-C cable at one end and plug the other end into a USB port or a compatible USB adaptor. The indicator will blink slowly and the screen will display battery status while charging is in progress and once charging is complete after approximately 1 hour, 45 minutes the indicator will be solid and the screen will display a full battery icon. A battery protection circuit is incorporated that provides over-discharge, over-charge and anti short circuiting protection. The TURBO Level (3,000 lumens) will produce massive heat rapidly during long-time activation. Use caution when operating the product on TURBO Level to avoid overheating and step down to a lower level if the product becomes too hot to handle. Featuring a maximum output of 1000 lumens, this torch provides a bright and powerful beam that can illuminate large areas effectively. The EDC27 also offers multiple brightness levels and modes, allowing users to adjust the light output to suit their needs.

It weighs a mere 4.37oz or 124g, making it light enough to carry around all day. The knurling pattern on the body provides a comfortable grip, ensuring it won’t slip out of your hand. Not only does the OLED display show you the current level and mode, but it also displays the lumen output and remaining battery life. I was a bit doubting between 4 and 4.5 stars, but with the unique design, and features, plus the output and performance, I can give it a final score of 4.5 stars. But that would actually gear towards tactical EDC use, and not for EDC use. For EDC it would score lower.

William goes on to explain WHY he thinks it’s the best money he spent on a flashlight. It’s very sensible. The Nitecore EDC27 is built to last from an anti-corrosion, high-strength, and rigid stainless steel body. It boasts an ultra-low standby current of just 1µA, which provides a staggering 365-day ready experience in standby status.x LED Luminus SST-40 με ένα ενιαίο κάτοπτρο για ομοιόμορφο και απαλό φωτισμό, ο EDC27 προσφέρει μέγιστη ισχύ φωτισμού που φθάνει τα 3000 Lumens ενώ η φωτεινότητα του είναι πολύ πιο μεγάλη από τους κοινούς φακούς καθημερινής χρήσης. The fact that this little beast recharges in under 1h and 20 minutes is still hard to believe. But on the third charge, it took me only about 1h and 15 minutes. The USB-C method is very convenient. During the charging process, the screen will show the battery charging status. When the battery is fully charged, the screen will display a full process bar.

The clip has a number of holes, too, including this loop seemingly ideal for attaching the included lanyard. Weight is rounded to the nearest gram, and to the nearest tenth of an Oz. Nitecore EDC27 Flashlight comparison The Nitecore EDC27 is a compact and reliable torch that offers a convenient and practical lighting solution. With a sturdy and durable construction, the EDC27 is built to withstand the rigors of everyday use. I believe this is because it was quite cold when I charged the flashlight, which sped up the process. With its large lanyard hole, you can easily attach a 550 paracord (4mm/0.16″) to the flashlight, making it easy to carry and ensuring you never misplace it.

But, you won’t have to go through any trouble if you got a reliable unit — that’s what we answer next. Where to Buy the Niecore EDC27?
