Not boring nor exciting for me. I didn’t really like the type of genre but every chapter had a cliffhanger so that made me read the whole book. The author also added a gay character, which I liked but I definitely thought it wasn’t necessary. Spanning forty years, this is the thrilling tale of a young woman propelled through history's most dangerous times. But read it carefully, because all may not be as it seems... I can see how it went wrong knowing that this was intended as a film script and buffed out for a novella.
Jason however isn’t like the rest of the racers. He is a lot younger than the rest while his car, the Argonaut, is quite old. This is going to be the toughest race of his life. And to win it, Jason will have to outwit and outrun his competitors. To survive, he will have to face and defeat unspoken horrors. Failure is not an option, for the fate of the world depends on it. A team of US scientists working at a distant ice station on the continent come across something buried deep under a layer of ice that has been there for 100 million years. Even more fascinating is that it’s made of metal.
I genuinely cannot believe I'm saying this right now but Matthew Reilly, this was not it. If you know me at all you know how much I adore Matthew Reilly's books but oh boy, my most anticipated book of 2022 is not only Reilly's worst book (that I've read so far) but, it might also be one of my least favourite books that I've read all year. It's a great action story because of course it is, Matthew Reilly wrote it after all. If you're a fan of the tv show The Boys then I'm sure you'd love this bloody action-full superhero story. But, that's really all this book has going for it. It's The Boys meets Captain America with no punches pulled - the action is hectic and non-stop, and the good guys just cannot catch a break. It's a steady rise of stakes that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering how this could possibly end well. Now there is Cobalt Blue. Reilly’s super ability is to tap into the zeitgeist, even if he doesn’t direct it.

Still would've made for an epic story and considering how smart we're constantly told they are, why was this not a contingency plan already in place? Not just stupid, but actual terrible writing that I can’t believe got past the multiple steps of editing.
