About this deal

It is not a requirement to register to remotely search the Collection or Library as these are freely searchable online. I ADORED this book. It was my first introduction to people like Montague Summers, Bram Stoker, etc. Special thanks to The Cobwebbed Room for an excellent entry on the Hamlyn series, including full artist credits and contents lists. Writer Daniel Farson led quite the eccentric life. He started his career as a journalist and appeared on several groundbreaking, investigatory news programs in the 1950s and early 1960s. He abruptly quit television and left London in 1964 to become a full-time writer. His 27 books include biographies (including one on his great-uncle, Bram Stoker), several memoirs of bohemian Soho (of which he was a contributing rake), travelogues, and two horror novels. He also wrote a volume for Aldus Books’ A New Library of the Supernatural called Vampires, Zombies, and Monster Men (1976), and a volume for Smithmark’s Great Mysteries series, Mysterious Monsters (1980). urn:lcp:hamlynbookofghos0000fars:epub:198f59c0-02da-4e88-b3c2-0142c4bd28fd Foldoutcount 0 Identifier hamlynbookofghos0000fars Identifier-ark ark:/13960/t3vv4cq2f Invoice 1652 Isbn 0600340538 Lccn 79310079 Ocr tesseract 5.0.0-beta-20210815 Ocr_detected_lang en Ocr_detected_lang_conf 1.0000 Ocr_detected_script Latin Ocr_detected_script_conf 0.9607 Ocr_module_version 0.0.13 Ocr_parameters -l eng Old_pallet IA-NS-2000506 Openlibrary_edition

The Hamlyn Book of Horror and S.F. Movie Lists is a book of trivia about horror and science fiction films. [1] Reception [ edit ] In this episode Mr Jim Moon continues to explore the eerie and macabre works for younger folks produced by Daniel Farson with a look at a ghostly television serial he co-wrote. The Clifton House Mystery was one of several children's drama serials produced by Bristol's HTV in the '70s and '80s, many of which were on SF, fantasy or horror themes. In this serial, an ordinary family move into an old house that proves to have a somewhat troubled history... Dave Langford reviewed The Hamlyn Book of Horror and S.F. Movie Lists for White Dwarf #50, and stated that "Good if you want to know about scenes cut from famous films, or 40 movie versions of Dracula, or King Kong's inside leg measurement: not exhaustive, but wide-ranging stuff." [1] In this episode, Mr Jim Moon has a flip through a battered but much loved tome in the Great Library of Dreams, a huge favourite with monster-obsessed kids in the 1970s and 1980s - The Hamlyn Book of Horror by Daniel Farson! Usborne responded in kind—or maybe it was simple coincidence—with their Supernatural Guides (1979), three of the most delightfully gruesome introductions to occult subjects ever published. In this episode we look at the last of the books on the weird and the wonderful written by Daniel Farson for Hamlyn. In this colourful volume, the kids of the 1980s could learn all about assorted monsters from dinosaurs to the xenomorph!
