About this deal

The unifying theme of the verses and chorus is the importance of the subject’s constancy to the singer, who is in the midst of a journey (road and seas as metaphors). Although I haven't paid a lot of attention to it, it seems to me that the sunset light in the mountains looks different than that on the plains. I'd say it's more blue (vs. red/yellow), perhaps brighter, and perhaps more direct. Suzie Fletcher is the warm and friendly face on TV’s The Repair Shop that viewers look forward to watching every week as the resident leather expert – a craft she has honed over four decades and was born out of her love of horses. But while she tends to be the one repairing and offering a gentle kindness to others, Suzie has also been in a process of change, reflection, and healing. This light comes from all the sky -- so it is diffuse. There will be no sharp edged shadows. Very flat lighting. Use italics (lyric) and bold (lyric) to distinguish between different vocalists in the same song part

The Sun Over The Mountains: A Story of Hope, Healing and The Sun Over The Mountains: A Story of Hope, Healing and

When the sun is behind the mountain, your scene is lit only by blue sky, and by reflection of sunlight from peaks. Late in the day there is very little light reflected from peaks, even though the sun may be 1-2 hours from sunset. Your lighting is bright blue sky. This light has less red in it than a similar period of time when the sun is below the true horizon in flat country. So your illumination is MUCH bluer than with sunlight. Suzie is an avid fan of horses and her love for them began in her childhood, which lead to her career in saddle making and restoring. The atmosphere has a prismatic effect, spreading white light out into its constituent colors. As the sun moves down to the horizon, you the viewer move into the orange-red band of light. The lower the sun can get, the more red the light will be.On the other hand, if you were on the west coast or somewhere with a clear shot toward the horizon, the sun would likely still be providing you with nicely filtered direct light for a portrait with a warm flattering glow. I've always thought this tune was very pretty yet haunting. Now since I have seen and heard the lyrics to it, it's even more haunting and melancholy than ever. I guess because of the untimely and tragic accident and death of Eric Fleming so soon after the series ended. What makes it even more haunting to me is it was EF that did most of the voice over narrations in those early episodes. But I have always wondered about the tune as only song anyone mentions is the Rawhide theme song. So thanks for having posted this.

mountains affect lighting at sunrise and sunset? How do mountains affect lighting at sunrise and sunset?

I just found your tool today and I am not only promoting it to get free credits, but because it's friggin' awesome! This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for as an outdoor photographer. I am travelling the world and sometimes I can't do location scouting because I just see it once I'm there. And, you saved me an hour of extra sleep next week because I know now the sun won't be out before 9am :) If you are seeking 'golden hour' lighting, look for an application that will give you not only the time of sunset, but the azimuth too. With this, you can find a valley that lines up reasonably close to the sunset angle, which will allow the sun to get lower and redder while still providing direct illumination.

Summary

As you increase in elevation there is less dust and water vapour in the air. Larger dust particles scatter light without colour change, as do water droplets. At low elevations this 'waters down' the blueness of the sky. As you get higher, the air cannot keep large particles suspended, so the sky gets increasingly blue, sometimes as much as 12000K. This can create odd effects on winter snow scenes where snow in the sunlight has a yellow cast, while sun in the shadows has a blue cast. In the example above, there is a picture of nicely illuminated clouds, which is great, but imagine trying to make a portrait in the shadows that are clearly visible from the photographer's perspective. It just wouldn't work without supplemental light.
