About this deal

Despite a relatively compact design, you’ll get a room-filling stereo that’s ideal for drenching your home in sound. There’s a much bigger sense of scale than you get with one of its smaller siblings such as the Evoke D4. To go with the quantity of sound, there’s a decent level of quality too. We really appreciated how immersive it felt to use this radio and the fact that we could access Bluetooth streaming as well as DAB. As with the rest of the Evoke range, the Pure C-D6 includes both DAB and FM radio modes. With both, there's the ability to save station presets. Three one-touch preset buttons let you instantly access your favourites, while a separate menu has space for twenty. The Evoke D2 is pretty much the same as the D1, the real difference is in the outer oak or walnut casing. The wooden casing contributes to a better sound overall, and also looks great.

The Pure all-in-one music systems combine digital radio, CD player and easy wireless connection to portable devices giving you a huge choice of listening. The space-saving designs with integrated speakers deliver ultra-clear class-leading audio and look beautiful with their clean styling and wood style finish. Our range-topping Evoke C-F6 also brings you the best of connected audio, with internet radio, Spotify Connect* and Bluetooth offering you an unparalleled choice of listening. Changing digital stations: You can change the radio’s digital stations using the remote or the front panel controls. For the remote, press the 🢨 or 🢩 button to browse through a list of the available stations and then press “Select” to choose a station. If you want to use the front panel control knob, turn the select dial right or left to scan through a list of the available stations. Push the button to change a station. If being able to listen to CDs is important to you, the Evoke C-D4 is a great digital radio/CD player combo. If you’re just interested in listening to the radio, or are content with connecting the radio to your phone or laptop, the Evoke D4 will do the job at a more affordable price. On the downside, one slight performance issue we had was that the remote wasn’t always very responsive. We had to make sure we were pointing the device directly at the radio for it to work. Pure Evoke C-D6 review: Verdict

The C-D6 feels sturdy and has a good amount of weight to it, though at roughly 4 kg it’s not too heavy to carry. The walnut-effect design gives it a classy, premium look and adds to the depth of sound. The Evoke F3 looks much more modern than the D1, D2 and D4 models, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your taste. Features What’s more, the real-wood casing combined with the embedded digital amplifier in this product makes for a sound that makes you want to sit up and listen. You can almost feel the music move through you with a radio as powerful as this. This particular radio system comes with an attractive real-wood casing, which is common throughout the Evoke portfolio.

We’d suggest upping your budget if that is the case, or if you don’t absolutely need a one-box solution, trump both with an all-in-one system such as Denon’s Award-winning D-M40DAB. If you just want a digital radio and aren’t interested in connecting it to the internet, an Evoke D2 or D4 is probably a better option. As with all Pure Evoke radios, you can except great sound quality. A cheaper alternative is the Roberts Blutune100, which has a similar price tag to the Pure Evoke C-D6 and also has very similar features. The Blutune100 has an acoustically tuned wooden cabinet that helps give it an attractive retro design. With a rated power of 20 W, the radio delivers a satisfactory sound experience. It is equipped with two built-in speakers, with a subwoofer driver diameter of 3 inches, offering a balanced and immersive audio performance.

The Evoke C-D6’s CD player has a slot-loading design so you just push the CD in rather than placing it on a tray. The CD player seems to be temperamental as many buyers have had issues with it stopping working after a few months of use, or being very slow to read CDs.

What’s more, when you turn this device on and start using it, you’re sure to be impressed by how much value it offers. Dialogue heard through the studio of Radio 5 Live sounds relatively warm and detailed. It’s easy to latch onto what people are saying.

Features

Another thing we enjoyed about the Pure Evoke C-D6 is the fact that it’s future-proof. We’re not just talking about being able to access Bluetooth streaming here, either. If being able to listen to thousands of radio stations via the internet sounds exciting, the Evoke F3 could be a good buy. It’s a very modern and reliable radio with lots of smart features, and can connect with your phone, laptop and other devices.
