Staff writer (November 8, 2005). "Toshiba Satellite L20/ L25". Notebook Review. TechTarget. Archived from the original on March 9, 2015. The Dynabook Satellite Pro C50D is an inexpensive office laptop with a 15.6-inch display. The CPU performance could be increased by switching to the AMD processor, but it is basically still the familiar office notebook that we already tested two years ago. Staff writer (July 24, 2013). You should not expect too much in terms of the display either, but at least an IPS display is used that offers decent picture quality and is suitable for normal office applications. The new AMD processor is efficient, which is why reasonable runtimes (7-9 hours) are possible even with the comparatively small battery. The bottom cover is secured with normal cross screws and the maintenance options are overall decent, because there are also two regular SODIMM slots next to the M.2-2280 SSD, which makes it very easy to upgrade the working memory. However, the WLAN module cannot be replaced. Torres, J. C. (June 18, 2015). "Toshiba's new Satellite S, C, and L series cover all bases". SlashGear.

The PCIe-SSD, which comes from Samsung and offers a storage capacity of 256 GB (184 GB are available to the user after the first start-up), has a significant share in this. The PM991a (PCIe-3.0-x4) is a very fast drive and reaches up to 3.1 GB/s, but the performance drops a bit after a short time. However, this does not matter in everyday use. Martinez, Juan (June 18, 2015). "Hands on: Toshiba Satellite L review". TechRadar Pro. Future US . Retrieved February 8, 2022. The Satellite line was introduced in 1992 with the T1800 and T1850 models, the T1800C and T1850C variants of which were one of the first notebooks with passive-matrix color LCDs. [4] Succeeding entries in the line followed this naming scheme, such as the Satellite T1900, T2110CS and T2130CS. [5] [6] Beginning with the barebones 100CS and 100CT in February 1996, Toshiba began using only numbers to name their Satellites, [7] a convention which continued until 2003 with the introduction of the Satellite A series.

Cheng, Cisco (May 13, 2010). "Toshiba's Laptops, Through the Years". PC Magazine . Retrieved July 4, 2019. There are several iterations of this laptop, and all share the same 15.6-inch non-reflective, non-touch TFT panel with FHD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution. If you need to deliver video presentations or watch post-work TV or movies, you might want to look elsewhere, but for mainstream use cases the screen is fine, with plenty of brightness available. The stereo speakers don't go particularly loud, but the sound quality is perfectly acceptable.

The upside of this laptop's size is that there's room for a number pad to the right of the keyboard. Unlike that on the Asus ZenBook Flip 15 UX563FD that I looked at recently, which also has a 15.6-inch screen, the number pad has full-size keys. This has been achieved by pushing the whole keyboard section further out towards the short edges of the chassis than is the case on the ZenBook. Oliver, Shawn (June 26, 2009). The surface temperatures remain uncritical even under load, so you don't have to worry here. The two stereo speakers can get relatively loud, but the overall sound quality is very weak and we definitely recommend headphones or external speakers if you want to listen to some music or show video clips during presentations, for example.

Webcam and microphone

The subjective performance impression in everyday use is very good overall because inputs are implemented without noticeable delays. This impression is also confirmed by the synthetic benchmarks, in which the review sample is often ahead of the competition. Never miss a moment with the Satellite Pro C40. The device's Windows Hello-ready HD Webcam, stereo speakers and Cortana-enabled microphone make staying in touch with customers, colleagues and peers effortless. Need to connect a headset? Simply pair via Bluetooth or plug in through the mic/headphone combination slot.
