About this deal

Rounding up to three stars as feeling generous. While younger readers will love this, I think it was a bit meh and a tad too cute/tame. They sneak out to an abandoned house that is rumored to be haunted to play with a ouija board. I mean, what could go wrong, right? Then there is Eva’s uncle Rufus, who is just his own very special character. His inventions are actually really good, and I do wonder if they could work in the real-world.. well some of them, some of them are little far out there. Sandbach Directory". sandbach.org.uk. So, for those curious, this is the first book in a middle-grade/young clean YA following three young teens - Eve, Clovis and Tom - who decide that this Halloween will be spooky. They plan to go to a haunted house, in the middle of the woods, with a Ouija board, without telling their parents or guardians. And you can guess what happened next, can't you? Fielding and Beattie sometimes do new episodes, which go on their YouTube channel. And they do the Most Haunted Experience, events in haunted locations where you can go along and get spooked. Now Fielding has added a new string to her ghost bow: books – spooky novels, for kids. We’ll get to those.

I think this may be up there with the scariest books I've ever read, and I genuinely love adult horror! Scarier than all Stephen King's I've read, and even the modern horrors... Fielding has made many appearances and interviews in the British media in connection with her paranormal investigations and programmes, including guest appearances on The Sunday Night Project ( Channel 4), The Chris Moyles Show ( BBC Radio 1) and Friday Night with Jonathan Ross ( BBC One). Furthering her paranormal franchise, in 2008 Fielding made her first move into radio broadcasting, hosting Yvette Fielding's Fright Nights on Kerrang! Radio. Fielding left the radio station a few months later however, due to other work commitments. [ citation needed] I had HIGH hopes for this one, I am all about ghost hunting and seek out books about it, but also, if available series and movies. So I was very excited about this one. Sadly, while there were good moments it just wasn’t all up to my expectations and there were things that just threw out the momentum. I will be doing a good/not so good review. Fielding is now concentrating on her writing career after “dipping her toe” into the world of children’s fiction with the standalone Archie The Ghost Hunter – inspired by a dream about her late grandfather – was published in 2019.

You are not supposed to stand in the middle of the circle but Karl, a cameraman and a soundman, did just that. The show was live across the UK and America for Discovery and we were live-streaming too. This book was incredibly spooky! The storyline was definitely a whirlwind of ghostly encounters and spine tingling creepiness. It feels so real that you find it hard to separate the book and what you’re reading to you’re own reality (maybe that’s just me because I live with very mischievous poltergeist). In 2007, Fielding appeared as a guest on the ITV chat show Loose Women, [8] and appeared as a contestant in the ITV2 reality television programme Deadline, finishing second. [9] Later on in the year she appeared as a guest on That Antony Cotton Show. In January 2008, Fielding appeared as a contestant on the BBC quiz show Celebrity Mastermind, with her specialist subject being Henry VIII. [ citation needed] The perspective again was all over the place, having to reread some parts because it's not very clear, some of the things that happen are out of convenience and not because its a good story, in some places it was boring, again to much of; "she said, he said," to ever make it a pleasure to read, some of the actions and language of characters seems to be out of place for who they are supposed to be or the age they are, again to much of telling and not enough showing which is so annoying because it could've been so much better considering it's supposed to be written by someone who has had many years of experience with ghost hunting and should know what she's talking about but unfortunately again it's left me flat and wondering if she knows anything about the paranormal because it doesn't seem to be reflected in her books and that dog farting all the time is just plain irritating and a waste of lines. It would have been interesting to meet her grandmother. She was from Homs in Syria and came to Britain in the second world war. “When I started in television, my grandmother said: ‘Don’t tell anyone you’re from Syria.’ I said: ‘Why?’ She said: ‘They won’t like you – people don’t like us.’ For years I didn’t, because I didn’t want to upset my grandmother.” It’s a shame that a generation of Blue Peter viewers didn’t know that the youngest presenter was a quarter Syrian. The parts that followed and then the next night were absolutely amazing and OH BOY, I was on the edge of my seat reading~ The ghost does something scary at each of the 3 houses, from endless ringing and bloody prints to spooky noises in the attic. The characters all had very quirky personalities and each different in their own way. I also can help the uncanny likeliness of the three main characters to crew members of most haunted: Here’s a picture of her grandmother. “She came through on the Ouija board, said: ‘I love you’ and that she’ll always be there.” Should we do an Ouija board now? “I wouldn’t want to do an Ouija board in my own house. This is my safe place.” Wow! I am really pleasantly surprised by this book! I thought, with it being a kids /teen book that it wouldn't be 'scary' as such, but more childish. How wrong I was!!

The kids feel somewhat unrealistic. The author was born in the 1960 and I think it's obvious that the doesn't spend much time with today's kids. I’ll be collecting the series and waiting for my little one to be old enough to read this book to him, for sure! The start of this trilogy introduces us to a group of friends looking for something creepy to do on Halloween. They want this Halloween to be extra special and they are not aware that they might get a lot more than they bargained for. In March 2013, Fielding appeared in the Peter Kay Sit down for Comic Relief comedy sketch as part of Red Nose Day 2013. In June 2013 she co-hosted Real Radio North West's breakfast show, with Glen Hunt, as a stand in for the regular co-host, Lorna Bancroft. [ citation needed] As well as presenting Most Haunted, Fielding also ran and co-owned a tea shop in Manchester called 'Propertea', near to Manchester Cathedral until 2016 when she left to start her own tea shop. [17] When Clovis, Eve and Tom decide to play with a ouija board in an old abandoned house on Halloween, none of them foresees the horrors they’re about to unleash. What starts out as a bit of fun, soon transcends into something far more terrifying when a distressed and determined spirit follows them home. Before long the friends are caught up in a series of events beyond their wildest imaginings and their journey as ghost hunters begins. I thought that the story was excellent, it was really well written and it had a nice, natural flow to the story. There was the right amount of detail in there to make sure you understood but also didn’t get bogged down. I think it has been written perfectly for the target age range and I loved it as an adult too.

As a teenager she worked as a hotel cleaner in Wilmslow, and a barmaid in Cheadle Hulme and Macclesfield. [2] Career [ edit ] Early career [ edit ] In September 2019, Fielding released her first novel, Archie the Ghost Hunter and the Rising. Published by Rudling House, Fielding's husband, Karl Beattie also provided illustrations for the book. After poltergeist activity at their home, Eve tells her scientist Uncle about what they did. He realises that he might know who the ghost is and what he wants, but it will take them all working together to put the ghost to rest.Oh. My. God. Yvette Fielding pulls a moonie on telly tonight". Stine Fear Street books feel to it, without all the deaths lol 😂 It had a good mix of humour and horror to it, and you know, that what has been written, come from an actual real life ghost Hunter.
