I am personally a fan of the Alfred books and use them for several instruments but Hal Lenard books are just as great. So now I have to pretend I'm a music teacher and figure out how to introduce her all this stuff properly. I guess the exercises are okay as long as I teach her the material first and then just practice with the exercises. The only thing in the book that gives an indication that this is a kids book is irrelevant cutesy pictures all over the place.
