About this deal

I won't say too much else since I think it's important people form their own opinions about this, but personally I don't think these books are for me. We started off the book seeing everyone that we met in Icebreaker which was lovely, I always love seeing how people are doing throughout a series.

Never one to overstay her welcome (or expect much from a man), Aurora slips away before Russ even has the chance to ask her full name. This was my first Hannah Grace book and even though this is the second book in the Maple Hills series, it reads fairly well as a standalone. Russ hopes if he gets far enough away from Maple Hills, he can avoid dealing with the repercussions of his father's gambling addiction, while Aurora is tired of craving attention from everyone around her, and wants to go back to the last place she truly felt at home. All novels given here for educational and informational purposes to benefit site visitors, and is provided at no charge.

Nothing happened with him, and the Xander connection /slash/ reveal later on could be seen from the moment Russ and Xander had their first conversation in their cabin. Grace’s writing style gentles the rough edges of the characters and slowly cracks them open to show the heart of their pain and the strength in their vulnerabilities. There’s also a scene where Jenna is telling Rory that “dad” is just a word without any action behind it and it was definitely an emotional conversation for me to read. Both characters have flaws and both are broken and traumatized by their parents who’d failed them, but Rory and Russ end up finding solace in one another despite their imperfections. Hannah Grace nám predkladá príbeh, ktorý rezonuje v srdci a zostáva s nami aj po prečítaní poslednej stránky.

Not only do we get re-introduced to some of our favorites from book 1, but we were also given camp friends to love. This book does not contain any Ice hockey at all, and it definitely felt different from icebreaker however it was still a really good fun read. It’s rare I think to be able to relate so much to both the FMC and the MMC on something so closely related. Russ knows breaking the camp’s strict “no staff fraternizing” rule will have him heading back to Maple Hills before the summer is over, but unfortunately for him, Aurora has never been very good at caring about the rules. I did feel that this book wasn’t as deep as I would have wanted it to be given the nature of the themes, however despite that I would rate Wildfire a solid 8 out of 10. When she’s not describing everyone’s eyes ten-thousand times a chapter, accidentally giving multiple characters the same name, or using English sayings that no one understands in her American books, you can find her hanging out with her husband and two dogs, Pig and Bear. After reading and devouring Icebreaker earlier in the year, I was not so patiently waiting for Russ’ story and my oh my, did I fall in love with this gorgeous guy!

Imagine their surprise when they bump into each other on the first day of the summer camp where they are both counselors, hoping to escape their complicated home lives by spending the summer working. Both working through their struggles gives the reader a sense of why our MMC and FMC process and react the way they do while also allowing the reader to see the growth they have both made. For help with these queries or to submit general questions, comments or feature requests, try Goodreads Help or use the Contact Us form. What I may have found difficult in the beginning was greatly overshadowed by the way Grace’s words evoke a sense of warmth and comfort that kept me coming back no matter what.

This resulted in me taking a pause at around 34%, trying to comprehend why I was struggling and began dealing with all the notions I had about the way the characters, their past, and their struggles were written. It only takes one conversation to realize and be ashamed that they were the main characters in the miscommunication trope for them to rectify their mistake and continue on as friends. I’m so happy that not only was that not the case (I swear I giggled every time Henry made an appearance because I’m so obsessed with him) but we also get some amazing new friends with Xander and Emilia.Russ doesn’t want to risk breaking the camp’s strict ‘no staff fraternising’ rule but, unfortunately for him, Aurora has never been very good at caring about rules. This book was great and had a great story line with alot of emotion in it and can easily relate to the characters life and their challenges they face.
