About this deal

So that is the one I wanted to get, Sorted, or so I thought. But that is when the difficulties started, the test was a few years ago, and it is now difficult for me to identify that exact filter amongst their current range. What a mess Hoya's UV filter range seems to be in, it is as if the marketing boys have been let loose. There are 6 different Hoya UV filter types; HMC UV-c, HMC UV-0, HD, Pro1, SuperPro1, Fusion Antistatic! Filter absorbs the ultraviolet rays which often makes outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct. This multi-purpose, all-around filter can serves as a permanent lens protector. While designed specifically for digital cameras the Pro1 Digital series can be used on film cameras as well. In fact, a UV filter can often actually degrade image quality in some situations. For example, additional ghosting and flare can be caused when shooting against bright lights in a scene. In this respect, the Hoya performs brilliantly well, its high-tech anti-reflective coatings on both sides of the glass really earning their keep.

Just like camera lenses, pretty much all photographic filters feature multi-layer coatings. However, this is a potential weak spot. While the glass may be strong, coatings can be relatively fragile and can easily get scratched or depleted simply by regular cleaning. Again, this Hoya UV filter comes to the fore with no less than 32 layers of super-tough nano-structure coatings applied to both sides of the glass. As well as ensuring optimum optical performance, the coatings repel moisture and grease and are rated at 800 per cent more scratch-resistant then regular coatings.

Polarizing filters: Reduce glare, cut unwanted reflections from water, and saturate colours, making skies appear bluer and clouds whiter Popular brands include Hoya, Cokin, Kenko, Zeiss, Sigma, and many more. Some are designed to protect lenses against dirt, dust, or moisture, while others change the properties of light as seen by camera sensors, while yet others create special effects. Common filters used by photographers include: The HD Mk II UV is the ultimate protection for your front-lens element against scratches, dirt and bumps. The great addition compared to a regular protector is that the filter also perfectly cuts out UV light, reducing the haze and blue colour cast which can be caused by it in certain settings, giving you ultimately a sharper image. REINFORCED UV-CUT GLASS Hi Tom, yes I want a uv-0 filter, but ideally a version that does not induce flare. The 16-layer anti-reflective high-transmittance multi-coating on both sides of the filter glass greatly reduces the chance of any reflections caused by the filter. As the coating comes with a water- and oil-repellent feature while also being stain-resistant, cleaning the filter is easy and stress-free. PROFILE FRAME
