About this deal

Releasing records under the pseudonym "Burial," William Bevan comes from South London in England, and is one of dubstep's most enigmatic artists. His reinterpretation of UK dance music, from the tripping gait of garage to the ambiguity of bass line, into bittersweet anthems all made by a producer whose identity remained defiantly in shadow, have been unquestionably influential. The record explores an interzone between dislocated, patchwork songwriting and eerie, open-world game-space ambience. Burial’s Untrue continued to refine the damp sonics and urban mood exhibited on his self-titled album released only a year prior, this time honing in on the hair-raising melodics and fragmented diva vocals that made “Distant Lights” such a standout. e. the original recording lacks the necessary detail to be processed digitally and show an audible improvement.

After you're done listening you will find yourself contemplating life and questioning your life decisions. Updated to add the beatless atmospheric tracks that have always been integral parts of the complete CD versions. Of all the artists past and present who claim to let their music do their talking for them, Burial is one of the elite band of whom this truly is the case. Untrue’ is an album that deserves every accolade, and in years to come it will still rightly be lauded as one of the greatest records of all time. In the resulting no man’s land , lyrics take precedence over song, lonely phrases colour the haze, a stark and fragmented structure makes time slow down.A record brimming with ideas and novel sounds, departing from genre exercises to offer something genuinely different. he's not setting out to hurt people" promises one lonely voice, out of the gloom--it's a record that flows remarkably, a journey through a lonely metropolis that's both melancholy and strangely uplifting. Antidawn' seems to tell a story of a wintertime city, and something beckoning you to follow it into the night. The 15 tracks become proper dancefloor scorchers … ‘Escapology’ builds a futuristic jumble of aesthetics and sound design.

I can partially understand the choice to leave apart Ghost Hardware for a separate dj-friendly release etc, but seriously, this puzzled me. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Track listing taken from sleeve other than A1 which is totally blank but refered to as 'Untitled' on Burials site.

Topping off Hyperdub's 15th year, Burial selects 'tunes'from the last eight years of his EP releases on the label, for this very welcome two CD collection. Highly regarded as a DJ and electronic music producer, on Death Becomes Her she shifts things up to another level. Already available as a special edition CD and digital album, we now offer a 1000 piece limited pressing on lucent orange vinyl, in spot-gloss sleeve with additional artwork by Optigram . In my opinion the only downside is that the 2x12" does not include some of the shorter compositions as "Untitled", "Ghost Hardware", "In McDonalds" and "Dog Shelter" which are included on the CD.Kode9's most ambitious work yet as a multi-disciplinary artist, ‘Escapology’ is the soundtrack album to the sonic fiction ‘Astro - Darien’, itself soon to be released on Hyperdub sub-label Flatlines. All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Of all the artists past and present who claim to let their music do the talking for them, Burial is one of the elite band of whom this truly is the case. I know that Burial was making an homage to the dance music he grew up listening to/sort of hearing or remembering outside of clubs, and it sounds almost disrespectful to say it, but this is much more than a dance music album. Punctured by pitched up, fractured voices lifting the mood to a bruised euphoria, woodblock two-step keeps the rhythmic pulse burning while glistening ambient interludes ache the heart.

It is updated to add the beatless atmospheric tracks that have always been integral parts of the complete CD versions. Timeless classic, I've discovered this album in 2019 and I still think it's one of the best albums ever. Treble – high frequencies – a wide range of generated and found sounds which range from the crisp and clear to the dark and murky. Yet despite this, his music speaks loud and wide, and the world has been listening ever since his 'South London Boroughs' EP debut on Hyperdub in March 2005.You can hear the problems that were present in London at the time of it's recording (knife crime, gang culture etc.
