I was glad I was able to get that game when it was released on PS3/360. This game features cel-shaded graphics, in contrast with the "solid 3D" rendering used in the previous three Simpsons games released ( The Simpsons Road Rage, The Simpsons Skateboarding, and The Simpsons: Hit and Run). The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions use a "flattening" technique to render true 2D graphics, instead of the traditional 3D cel shading method, and the DS is a 2.5D platformer. Many cutscenes feature the 2D style, shown like a normal Simpsons episode (except for the DS version, which has 3D rendered cutscenes).

Players of The Simpsons Game are able to control the Simpson family each with their own unique abilities. [1] Two different family members are playable in each level, [2] [3] aside from the tutorial level, "The Land of Chocolate", in which only Homer is playable, in all of the levels in which Marge appears, in which Maggie is also playable, and the final level, "Game Over", where all members of the family are playable. Yes, it’s dated now but I could still have plenty fun driving around Springfield. Hit and Run was great. It was one of the first console games I ever played, so I have a lot of fond memories of it.

So maybe they don't want another console game as it won't make money like the phone game does. They made their own Simpsons Game after Hit & Run and it wasn't as good so they wouldnt want to work with Activsion as that would be like saying Vivendi Games (now Activision) made the better game and opening those doors for them to make a sequel. They know Hit & Run is more popular than their own.
