About this deal

To understand this, let's define thread count. This number refers to how many threads there are in a square inch of the fabric. The higher the number, the more tightly woven the material is. Complete with a luxury easy care finish, giving you the perfect washing and ironing results every time. All luxury Egyptian cotton bedding, duvet covers and pillowcases have a thread count, this is how the looms create the cotton fabrics we use to make the yarns. Cotton strands are woven together in a criss cross pattern and a thread count is given when the threads intertwine horizontally on the weft and vertically on the warp in any given square inch. So if the fabric is woven with a 300 thread count then the fabric has been woven together over 300 times in that square inch of linen. Generally the higher the thread count the better and softer that bedding becomes as you need finer yarns in principle to create even higher thread counts. Egyptian cotton uses a higher grade of cotton than has long staple fibres which are stronger than standard cotton yarns which allow them to be spun even finer creating more opulent fabrics. What is a Percale Cotton Weave? We only use cotton that has extra long staple fibres which are sourced directly from the Nile Delta region of Egypt. Woven in modern textile mills to create a cotton fabric with that added extra level of comfort and quality. Selecting the right Egyptian cotton bedding is very important, we all like very different things and our bedding requirements are no exception. With a vast amount of choice available how do you know what is the right option? Some of the most popular questions we are asked are as follows: The longer fibres certainly help give this bedding longevity, which is a real plus. "The key attributes to look for are that the bedding you choose is made from natural fibres that supports breathability and allows for air circulation next to the skin," Farah continues. "That will support you to have the most comfortable night’s sleep."

For soft, breathable bedding, cotton is the go-to choice for most. But, did you know that thread count isn't the only factor when it comes to quality? In fact, the thread itself is also important — and Egyptian cotton bedding is widely regarded as some of the best. Cotton grown in Egypt often produces longer, finer yarns versus regular cotton," says Farah Arshad, Head of Product at bedding brand Dusk. "Generally speaking, the longer the threads, the better the softness and the drape of the material when woven into bed linen." The perks of Egyptian cotton bedding

What is Thread Count?

So the right thread count for you will depend on your particular tastes; if you're looking for an indulgent hotel feel, go for a higher number. Choose from a range of deep fitted sheets, duvets covers, flat sheets, base valances and a selection of pillowcases.

Egyptian cotton fibres create a yarn that is smaller in diameter but longer in length, allowing for more threads per square inch to be woven into the fabric. It feels smoother to the touch than other types of cotton. In terms of weight, it's lighter, but this does not impact its efficiency and creates a sleek finish. You'd assume that a higher count is better, but that's not strictly true. Linen bedding, for example, has a typical thread count of around 200, but that's what makes it so breathable and gives it that lovely texture. Egyptian cotton is well known for being one of the finest to the touch, cool and crisp cotton that offers long lasting durability. Again, it depends. "There are several factors that play into what makes a great quality cotton," says Farah. "Egyptian cotton is technically regarded as a more superior yarn, so it could be classed as a more superior product, but there are a number of factors that play into what makes a quality bed linen."
