About this deal

The first will grind your coffee beans, the second pulls your espresso shot and the third either steams your milk or adds some hot water, depending on which beverage you’ve chosen.

Sage coffee machines are known for quality, with in-built grinders to give you more control of your brew.

We chose the single espresso option, but our espresso cup felt small, struggling to capture all the flow without dripping down the sides of the cup.

We'd recommend watching some YouTube tutorials so you can figure out exactly where to hold the nozzle in the milk jug, and how long you need to hold it there for to find your perfect milk texture. For anyone who loves to try new coffee bean blends and experiment with ground coffee flavours, the stylish Breville the Barista Express Impress is a joy to use.To work out if the Barista Express Impress would be a winner for any bleary-eyed coffee addict first thing in the morning, we conducted a series of tests. When she’s not typing away at her computer, she can be found tending to her Dorset-garden, trying the latest water sport at the beach or acting as chauffeur to her two young kids. Of course, this amount does change when you change beans, so it will need to be recalculated, but all this involves is adding the new beans to the hopper and grinding for your chosen size of coffee (one or two cup sizes) using either the automatic or manual mode. Despite its similar looks, I can confirm that the Sage Barista Express Impress is a total game-changer.

If your dose required a bit more or a bit less, the intelligent dose system auto corrects, remembering the last dose and tamp outcome and adjusting it to ensure you achieve the perfect dose this time. Creating decent-tasting coffee in the way a professional barista would takes time – but we found that the ceremonial approach to using this machine, whereby you need to tamp and dose correctly, made the process of making coffee almost as enjoyable as drinking it. The Express Impress looks pretty similar to the original model, and I'd know because my parents' machine must be one of the hardest-working Barista Express machines in the country. If it's something that goes in your house, chances are Beth knows about it and has the latest reviews and recommendations! Similar in design to the Barista Express, there’s an extraction pressure gauge and two buttons that provide a choice over one- or two-cup espresso extraction. Short of investing in some additional high-tech coffee gear, this is one of the best ways to achieve consistent espresso and still have a barista-style machine as opposed to one of the best bean-to-cup coffee machines. However, there were gasps of delight once we got past this, lifting the machine from its non-recyclable nest. Next, you remove the portafilter from the grinder, insert it onto the group head and place your cup of choice underneath before pressing the second icon, which brews your espresso shot.
