About this deal

To exit the emulator, hit the Start button then select exit in the menu for most paks or hit Select+Start.

One notable difference between the RG353V and the RG353P is that the vertically–oriented model features only one speaker. This is unlike other Anbernic devices that I’ve tried and would prefer to have dual speakers for more balanced audio output. Haven't tried the android mode yet, but the Linux OS runs everything that I need so I'm really happy with it. ArkOS development has been fairly active, with numerous updates for 353 devices released throughout November/December. A power step up from previous generations of Anbernic handhelds, adding libraries like the N64 and Dreamcast makes for a compelling value upgrade for those that have been loving their 351V but wanted a bit more.

The popularity of the Anbernic retro game consoles has been hyped up in the recent 2 years but still, some of you might run into issues during use. The RG353V variant, for instance. More specifically, there are 2 options: The rg353v and the rg353vs. The differences between the 2 are quite obvious: the rg353vs is an elite edition of the RG353V, that is to say, it does not have Android, and Touchscreen and wireless projection are not supported. Running on Android means that you will have access to a collection of built-in Android games.

Unlike the Linux OS, the Android emulator apps are not configured by default so you’ll have to open each app and configure it manually. Mostly this will consist of pointing the emulator to the correct ROM file folder for the system and occasionally also configuring your controller mapping. Anyway, when you do need to dive into the options to tweak a setting here or there, the Linux experience keeps a lot of the major stuff in the frontend. You get to avoid the kerfuffle of learning the ins and outs of, say, Retroarch, and instead set major global and per-game options in a user-friendly list. It also provides easy access to all of your UI customization, media scraping tools, and updates. Booting the Android frontend brings you to this uh Cyberpunk Arcade Trailer

The SD card reader on your unit may be bad. At which point, you would need to repair, replace, or return the unit. Setting up a great, user friendly interface that launches all of your retro games with ease in the Android OS takes some effort and knowledge, but once you have the device setup the way you want, you’ll be glad you took the time. Here is a list of game streaming/desktop streaming services that I have personally tested on my RG353V The last months of 2022 have seen some changes in custom firmware development for Anberinc's handhelds, which I've tried to follow a bit on Discord, wanting the best firmware for my needs and ease-of-use on my RG353P. As we come into 2023, here's what little I've learned: Now that your SD card is configured with the file structure you want, you can copy all of your favourite games onto the new card. You can also find instructions for doing this in my Starter’s Guide for the RG353 Configure your emulators
