About this deal

The Asics Gel Blade 7 came out from 2019 to 2021 and was the successor to the Asics Gel Blade 6, which was popular in squash and was used by several squash pros including Nour El Sherbini, Nicol David, England’s Josh Masters, and several more. In badminton you are likely to occasionally slide as you move side to side – this means you need a shoe that offers support and protects your ankles.

Plus adding to the comfort and support category and unlike the older Tactic models, the midsole on Blade 8 is Asics’ FlyteFoam, which are awesome in my book! Cushioning throughout the foot will reduce the chance of injuries and strain when landing from high jumps.and so that gives your foot some protection from drag. Now let’s look at the left shoe so where I normally drag is on my left toe here and you can see it’s getting worn down right at the point where it’s protected so that’s doing its job very nicely. These felt pretty normal true to size for me. I’m a US 11.5. On the weight side of things these are incredibly light. They are 320 grams which is the lightest shoe I think I’ve ever weighed. The Fastball, which is what I’m currently playing with, is 337 (grams) and this is really light so this is almost 20 grams lighter. Because the Tactic 2021 models got beefed up a little bit for more cushion and support, I did not like them as much as the older Gel Tactic 2 model, which were supportive and comfortable enough, but still light and very agile.

They have removable insoles if you have to take out orthotics. They’re not as good as the insoles on the Asics Fastball 3. They’re just a little more sort of spongy and flimsy but they’re still pretty good. They slide in and out relatively easily if you have orthotics or need to change them out. So the downside of these was that I did not get good grip on the court. I repeatedly slipped in these shoes even after using them you know like the fifth sixth seventh time I tried them. I was still slipping and not like on every lunge or anything but just in a match invariably there’d be a moment where I would stretch for something and it really happened mostly with this shoe, the right shoe, the one that I’m holding. By raising the heel collar height, this shoe offers more stability while allowing your foot to move more freely. Note: the Asics Gel Blade 8 — the successor to the Blade 7 — started landing in 2021, although it seems to be affected by supply chain issues. We redesigned the outsole with our X GUIDANCE™ technology for improved diagonal court coverage. This function increases flexibility and allows you to move more easily on the court.. PRODUCT FEATURES• No-sew overlays improve support and flexibility They’ve had issues with the shoe coming apart here. I did not have that but partly because I didn’t use these very much like I’m going to explain in a second. The lace-up is pretty nice. When you are moving fast across a hard court, the friction can lead to blisters on your skin – proper badminton shoes make it less likely that you will develop blisters. RhynoSkin - Strong durable material on the outer of the shoe to protect from drag, targeted in the areas of high wear.

I had a rough time with these. I’m going to tell you why. First I’m going to take you through some a couple of the cool factors here a couple of the cosmetic elements which I think look amazing. This color scheme is great. It’s kind of like navy and orange. I think I bought this for 100 Euros from Handball Shop I believe. So we’ve got a gum rubber sole with this kind of stability piece um in the middle here and the gum rubber kind of goes around like this. You got the sort of tooth mark looking pattern here which some squash players have found to be not that durable.Personal Heel Fit - A series of soft cushioning foams in the heel that help to mold the shoe to your foot, to give a more secure feel.

For sports like squash and badminton, non-marking trainers are an essential part of your kit. ASICS is one of the world’s leading brands of men’s squash shoes and badminton shoes. We have specially designed these non-marking shoes so they will not leave unsightly smudges on the court and mean you can follow your club’s rules. Your badminton shoes should not slow you down. Anything more than 300 grams will really start to feel like a drag towards the end of a long match. Rounding out the Asics lineup as usual is the Upcourt shoe. This is the Upcourt 4, a redesign from last year’s Upcourt 3. Thought I’d leave my comments and opinions about these shoes – This is John, I was the one who gave Pierre the tips and photos of the new Gel Tactic 2021’s in comparison to the older 2019 ‘Gel Tactic 2’ models. Ideally you should be looking for neutral shoes with a relatively thin sole which keeps you stable and low to the ground.

When you buy through a sponsored link, Squash Source receives a small commission (at no additional cost to you), which supports my efforts on Squash Source — thanks! If you want to take your badminton game to the next level, you need to work on rapid footwork. Badminton shoes use lightweight materials and utilise design features which are appropriate to the sport. The GEL-BLADE™ 8 shoe creates good support for squash and badminton players engaging in multi-directional movements. Practical for diagonal court coverage, this shoe helps you push your body and mind to new boundaries. It’s just uh pretty snug lacing although nothing particularly special about it. There’s kind of a protective outer piece here on the outer part of the instep
