About this deal

Convenient" would be the word I'd use to describe this book. And that's really what it is: any time I need to refer to something on nutrition, I look it up in this book.

Transformational Journey: Embarking on the journey with Healing with Whole Foods is a commitment to enhanced physical, mental, and emotional health. It inspires you to personalize your dietary plan, in tune with your unique needs. I was vegetarian from the time I was 12 to 21 and then off and on after. In the past year I have found that despite supplements and additions of b12 and iron in my diet I was suffering from all the symptoms of b12 and iron deficiency. My moods had never been very stable, my periods always came with much PMS. We were looking into whether or not I was bipolar. I looked into many options, Naturopathic medicine, herbalism, aromatherapy, shamanism, western medicine, psychiatry, yoga and then I found this book. After reading it I came to the hard conclusion that I would try eating meat. It was never a choice I felt comfortable with but faced with my life's collapse and feeling that diet and exercise was a stronger medication than any mental health medication I tried it. This book has been my go-to home resource for decades. When I couldn’t afford the third edition, and my second one had fallen apart from use and a dry climate, I borrowed the third edition from the library! An absolute wealth of information, experience and understanding, Healing With Whole Foods is offered as a reference volume for practitioners in a variety of fields dealing with both energetic and physical patterns of health in their clients. I personally came across the volume in support of my studies in holistic kinesiology and Chinese medicine, and found it particularly useful for the combinations of symptoms presenting outside the understanding of traditional western medicine. The healing foods diet is an eating plan that focuses on replacing refined, processed and inflammatory ingredients in your diet with nutritious, whole food alternatives to promote better health. There is a near-consensus among health authorities that whole, unrefined foods represent a fundamental truth in support of individual health and well-being. The whole foods movement is a common sense approach that is quietly extending through all economies and social classes to overcome the madness resulting from highly processed, refined, genetically modified, and synthetic (non-) foods that have turned modern societies into centers of degenerative disease. At the end of the day, wholesome foods are destined to be a biologic remedy that, in concert with organic farming and plant medicine, has the capacity to heal the Earth and her peoples. Vegetables: broccoli, cabbage, bell peppers, Brussels sprouts, tomatoes, asparagus, garlic, cucumber, onions, ginger, etc. Nutrition is all about balance. You can overdo anything, and you can under-do anything. Overindulgence can be as bad as neglect; a good lesson here is that over-eating certain foods can incur deficiencies, as minerals can compete for absorption -- the safest route to take is to let yourself relax, and select foods from a very wide spectrum. This book will help you find out what foods may be most appropriate for you in your current situation, and since we're dynamic beings, it will also help you find out what foods will be appropriate for you in any number of situations. Sometimes dairy will be very helpful; other times, it might be wise to avoid it completely.

In other words, this book is fantastic for foundational knowledge, and encouraging the development of a very strong foundation via independent research from as many other sources as possible. I don't refer to this book as an authority on anything, but again, as a "jumping pad" that is a *great* aid to me in furthering my own research and experimentation. Holistic Foundations: The book grounds you in the principles of Qi vitality and Yin-Yang balance, illuminating the path of holistic healing and nutrition. One thing that was unique and completely new to me in the book (and I’m sure there are many) was the idea of the “Interchanges of the Seasons”. Delicious Healing Recipes: Immerse yourself in Part V, with vegetarian recipes that unite robust flavor with therapeutic benefits.

Another fundamental healing support is appropriate activity. For example, mindful exercises including yoga, qi gong and tai ji bring with them the meditative aspect into various exercise patterns and postures. Indeed, in this tech-centric age, helping stressful persons to set down their digital devices momentarily and simply stroll in nature, breathe fresh air and get sunlight can create measurable health benefits. Trading unhealthy fats for healthier options is one of the key components of the healing foods diet. The combination of scientific explanations with descriptive pictures of how energy works and moves is a living example of just such ‘balance’ in the whole approach Paul Pitchford offers. This then fits with the Chinese conceptions of heat and cold, the English (though not necessarily confined to it) aspects of passion and rationality. While some distance is required to make observations of one sort, reading of pulses requires a ‘hands-on’ approach for sensing what cannot be seen. This suggests an imbalance in the use of the senses within the western framework not allowing a full diagnosis to be implemented. A Lifelong Companion: Pitchford's in-depth, reader-friendly approach makes the book a lifetime go-to guide for reliable nutritional insights. Readers return time and again to delve deeper into its vast knowledge base. urn:oclc:27338287 Republisher_date 20120407053249 Republisher_operator [email protected] Scandate 20120406130117 Scanner scribe18.shenzhen.archive.org Scanningcenter shenzhen Worldcat (source edition)

You can be healthy again but you need to take charge of what you put inside; they say stomach is the root cause of all illnesses. And if you throw the right stuff in it will it pay you dividend. So start thinking of your poor stomach who is so reliant on you!Embark on a transformative wellness journey with Paul Pitchford's bestselling Healing with Whole Foods. This comprehensive handbook goes beyond the simple integration of traditional Chinese Medicine and modern nutritional science: it's a beacon of wisdom and insights for individuals committed to healthful living and holistic practitioners alike. The diet includes a few simple steps that involve making some simple switches in your diet. Best of all, unlike other diets with extensive, complicated rules and regulations, the healing foods diet relies on three basic principles: 1. Swap out Unhealthy Fats When the food groups listed above are quality items–—organic, and ideally biodynamically produced in support of a sustainable permaculture–—then therapeutic results increase. A dearth of reports indicate that genetically modified foods are inherently dangerous. Likewise the herbicides, pesticides, and chemical toxins in conventionally grown foods are an insult to our personal and planetary health. Thus we endeavor to promote not only unrefined whole foods but also freshly prepared local organic foods of high quality that provide the best opportunities for vibrant healing experiences. Sustaining high blood sugar levels can be detrimental to overall health. Not only can it worsen diabetes symptoms and cause serious side effects like vision loss and nerve damage, but it can also lead to a condition known as insulin resistance. Plus, this simple eating pattern is a great way to ensure you supply your body with a steady stream of the nutrients you need to help prevent nutritional deficiencies in your diet.
