About this deal

His brand new novel, THE MOTHER, is a twisty, fast-paced thriller about a woman betrayed and her search for redemption against all the odds. Because if she can't discover who framed her for murder, she will never see her sons again... Trust me follows Ellen, after a young woman leaves a baby (Mia) with her on the train. A note asks Ellen not to tell the police or trust anyone. As the truth unfolds Ellen has to fight to keep Mia safe. Ryan was also behind a staged empty bottle of vodka, Google searches on the computer for the Peak District and blood found in Ed’s car to create a false impression of Ed’s mental state. But his love of keeping souvenirs of his crimes caught up with him and when Abbie found a Grand Canyon #1 Dad knife in his belongings that she’d bought Ed, she put two and two together. Ellen has longed for her child her whole life and now she's just been presented with one. Ellen is about to discover that the baby in her arms might hold the key to an unspeakable crime. And doing the right thing might just cost her everything . . . Logan died in 1914 at his apartment in New York City, New York, due to a "complication of diseases." The closer the wedding date, the harder it was to put this one down! Ed (the ultimate helicopter dad) was such an endearing character. His dark humor had me laughing out loud at his obsessive behavior (it is his daughter so it is understandable, he thinks the guy is evil). Hubby and I were racing to finish “Lies” by T. M. Logan. So suspenseful. His style of writing reminds me of @harlancoben (another favorite)Not only did he not pay the private investigator; he also forwarded the report exposing him as a liar and criminal to his and Abbie's house. He had no financial issues. He could've settled the bill or bought a P.O. box. I knew I wanted to write so journalism seemed an obvious choice, and after five years as a reporter and then education correspondent on the Nottingham Evening Post I moved to London to work on the Daily Mail. At the Mail I became the paper’s Science Reporter, covering all kinds of stories from new technology to the environment, space, genetics, health and medicine. I enjoyed being a national newspaper journalist but it didn’t leave much time for anything else – like thriller writing. I don’t want to say too much about the plot of this one as it spoils the surprises! Kathryn Clifton entrusts baby Mia with Ellen Devlin on the train into Waterloo. She leaves a note warning Ellen to tell and trust no one. The story is told from several perspectives but principally by Ellen.

If you raced through to The Pale Blue Eye ending and loved The Holiday on Netflix last year, then there’s another atmospheric adaptation starting on January 25 which is definitely worth a watch. Like The Holiday, it's based on a T.M Logan thriller and The Catch tells the dark tale of Ed Collier whose daughter Abbie is head-over-heels for her new boyfriend Ryan. Though from the moment they first meet, Ed's not so convinced he's what he appears to be. Haunted by a secret of his own, his suspicions soon turn to obsession. The Catch book ending ties up the many twists and turns in chilling style and if you’ve yet to read it, you might be a little curious. I've now read all TM Logan's books and enjoyed every single one of them so I now have the long wait until the next one's released. Don't leave it too long Mr Logan.

You never quite know who to believe. Is Ed being over protective and paranoid? Is Ryan hiding something? You need to read this to believe it

Lies: The First Eight Chapters by T.M. Logan | Goodreads

When Ellen Devlin boards the train to London after a fertility appointment, she doesn't expect to get off the train with a baby in tow, left to her by Kathryn Clifton. She was just meant to hold the baby for a few minutes, so Kathryn could have some respite and make a phone call, but as the train pulls into a station and Kathryn gets off, Ellen is left with the baby and a desperately scribbled note asking her to protect baby Mia and not to trust the police or anyone. A baby is all Ellen has wanted, as she cannot produce her own biological child, so being forced to protect Mia means Ellen taps into her motherly instincts and will do all she can to ensure her safety. What follows is a fast-paced, gripping twisty thriller that had me hooked. Ellen is quietly sitting on a train when a young woman called Kathryn sits beside her with her baby and they start chatting. When Kathryn has to take a call she asks Ellen if she'd mind holding the baby and leaves the carriage. After the train pulls in at the next station Ellen, to her horror, sees Kathryn rushing off down the platform, mouthing 'sorry' at her. Ellen rifles through the baby's bag and finds a message from Kathryn saying, 'Please protect Mia. Don't trust the police. Don't trust anyone'. The Catch is a hugely suspenseful story and the tension builds up slowly, as Ed travels down an increasingly darker path. How far will a father go? Throughout, the reader is left to wonder about Ry In the final showdown on the moor, Ryan attempted to kill Abbie even after she told him she was pregnant with his child. The reader learnt that he married her because "married men drew less attention" and that he’d learnt the "importance of lying well. And not just lying with words, but with actions too.”

Need Help?

When Abbey brings home her fiancé Ryan to introduce him to the family, everyone is completely enamoured with him. Ryan is thoughtful, charming, successful and Abbey is besotted with him. What’s not to like? But Abbey’s father, Ed, doesn’t warm to Ryan at all. Ed feels something about Ryan is off but he’s very much alone in that line of thinking. With Abbey and Ryan planning to get married in a month’s time, Ed has very little time to start digging into Ryan’s past if he wants to stop the wedding from happening. Is Ed paranoid? A massively overprotective dad? Or is Ryan really not what he seems to be? Ryan does seem too good to be true and helps add abit of ambiguity, whilst Abbie's mum Claire thinks her husband's reactions are ridiculous. His also had a history of scaring off Abbie's previous boyfriends, which adds some good uncertainty during Ed's chapters. Lily Logan Morrill (November 18, 2011). A Builder of the New South: Notes on the career of Thomas M. Logan. Author House. pp.75–76. ISBN 978-1-4678-7032-0. Highly engaging, fast paced and all the crazy train madness. An excellent, entertaining psychological thriller. Thanks to Jayne for recommending this one! The tale is well told, and T.M Logan captivates with his easy writing style, but... I found the main character became more annoying as the story progressed, and the plausibility went out the window a little after halfway. This would not have been an issue had the first half not been so realistic. The overwhelming evidence against the 'misdirect' person was a giveaway as to the real culprit. This father of the bride has some bad vibes about his 23 year old daughter's fiance, Ryan. He starts "googling" on Ryan because he just can't shake the feeling. When he looks at Ryan, his eyes are like "points of darkness". Wow what a book. This is the first T.M. Logan book I have read, and I simply can’t believe how much I have been missing out on!

However.....as the story unfolds it all goes pear shape in it’s believability, for me anyway, it goes off at a tangent and just never regained it’s initial plausibility and I guessed the culprit very early on ( due to the constant barrage of evidence against the person we were meant to think it was, it was too much one way) Well this was certainly a thrill a minute story. Written mostly from Ellen's perspective it was very much plot driven, with the story whizzing about all over the place keeping the adrenaline flowing. The characters in the story were hugely interesting and believable, which made it really difficult to know who to trust, I was doubting EVERYONE! Ellen had real guts and determination - once she became attached to Mia she wasn’t going to let her go in a hurry - despite the constant danger. If you’ve yet to read T.M. Logan’s The Catch book then you might well be a little surprised by the changes that have reportedly been made to the Collier family and their home in the gripping Channel 5 show. In the Channel 5 drama which starts on January 25, as per RadioTimes.com, the setting is now the coast of the South West of England where Ed is a fisherman. This book had a nice number of twists and turns. I enjoyed the characters and the various POV's in this book. T.M. crafted a riveting, fun and engrossing book. I can't wait for what he comes up with next.
