This is a great, inexpensive pedal that serves a very useful purpose, especially if you're playing slap bass. And if you don't enjoy replacing 9V batteries, you can always use Behringer's PSU-SB DC power supply (not included) to power this pedal. The BLE400 compresses these different sound levels so the loud signals are matched by the softer sounds for a more balanced performance. We have also included a status LED for effect On/Off and battery check, and you can run your BLE100 on a 9 V battery or a DC power supply (not included).

It works by reducing the dynamic range of a signal, often referred to as compression which means that loud signals are turned down and softer sounds are turned up, so they more closely match each other.
