About this deal

The pen is fantastic for the money and I was worried I might need micro mesh to smooth the Nib but it's fine. The pen shows a few minor scratches in the steel body from my keys, but one would have to look for them despite how much I have bounced it around. It also takes some time for you, the pen user, to get used to your new pen and adapt your writing style to the pen.

We always recommend you give your pen a good cleaning first, using our Goulet Pen Flush, or a drop of dish soap in some water.I think part of the problem with it when it was in my rotation last was I didn’t use it as often so the ink would dry up in the feed resulting in hard starts. As you can see, there are plenty of things not to like about the Jinhao X750, with only a few positives.I can’t say I’m itching to try more as the let down if I get a bad is just not worth the gamble for me. This consists of either dipping your pen nib and feed in ink, or forcing ink from the converter down into the feed. It works well and pleasantly does not have that annoying rattle while it sits in the pen like I have experienced with other , much more expensive pens. The nib is also stainless steel and is etched, which makes it my only pen that has anything other than the brand and some basic information on the nib. In the nibs forum I was touted onto an Arkansas Stone and some micro-screen reshaping -- and will try that IF I cannot afford to fine 3 nibs that work as well as a Japanese fine in the X750, or a flex nib that flows properly on the feed.

The grip is smooth black plastic with a rounded reinforcing ring at the end where the nib inserts into the grip.It is easily the biggest nib in my collection and the only ones that match it are probably the nibs from a Pelikan M1000 or other such high-end fountain pen. Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.
