CHOOSE THE RIGHT TAPE: FrogTape® painter’s tape comes in 2 different grades, from medium adhesion to low adhesion. The kind of room you are painting, the surface type and other factors can make a big difference to your results. The yellow tape will adhere to previously painted surfaces without damaging or pulling off the paint. Tape is needed to protect baseboard from the spritz that comes off of a roller when rolling walls. Tight corners that don’t quite have room for a full-sized brush need tape to mask off areas that don’t get painted. Door knobs and hinges are much easier to paint around when masked off with tape. And tape is needed, in some cases, to make wavy ceiling joints look straight. Homeowner may not realize how crooked the joint can be where the wall meets the ceiling. This is especially prevalent in older houses that have settled over many years. Even the steadiest professional hand will have a hard time making crooked ceiling joints look crisp and clean without the straight edge tape can provide. Do not buy, literally peeled off my ceiling paint when removing the tape. Normal masking tape works so much better, I only brought as I had run out and thought I would use the ‘professional stuff’ big mistake. I should know better! I’ve been burnt by frog tape before but I thought I would give it another go and again it’s pulled all my freshly painted wall off when removing the tape even when lightly applied and removed immediately after second coat!Please don't waste your money on this green frog tape ... it does not come off never mind leaving a residue it takes off the paint its protecting ...it is expensive compared to other tapes but it is totally useless. I bought Green Frog tape given it said it wouldn’t lift the paint from surfaces, this is absolute nonsense and completely misleading. I spent time running round putting Frog tape on my ceiling in preparation to paint my walls, which I painted three months ago. The frog tape had been on for three days, upon finishing the painting I started to take off the tape and it completely devastated my ceiling. The adhesive was way to strong and started to pull off strips of paint the whole way round the room! I know have to spend lots of time sanding and repainting my ceiling, do not use this on any painted surfaces as it will lift it all when you take it off. Need ideas for your next paint project? Only problem was the adhesive was that strong it lifted a lot of the top cot emulsion so I had to cut it in again aftwards which I hoped wouldn't have been needed. And finally, we have the eurocell. This is by far the cheapest tape and is in the test really to represent the basic unbranded masking tape you will find in any shop. So not holding out much hope for it, but let’s see how it gets on.

This is a medium-priced masking tape, it is definitely a lot more premium than your bog-standard tape but not as expensive as some other brands. We can see in the below photo that it has actually done pretty well. There are a couple of small chips in the paint but overall it is not too bad at all. Ultratape Apply your tape to the surface. For experienced painters, unroll the tape in one long section and keep the roll flat against the wall. For less experienced painters, apply the tape in shorter sections to avoid stretching the tape. I brought frog tape to cut in new picture rail. The wall had been sanded down primer coat put on and top coat of matt emulsion. This was left for a week to fully dry.

In a word, YES. Using Frog Tape really does make a world of difference in the ease of the painting process. Despite the under the breath grumblings heard by old school painters around the globe, frog tape has “reinvented the wheel” of painter’s tape in the best way possible. By eliminating paint bleed (well, drastically improving it at the very least), Frog Tape is easily one of the best industry innovations in the last 20 years. Frog Tape Test. This is one of the cheapest tapes in the test, so I’m not expecting mega results here. And yeah, quite a bit of leakage of both strips, definitely the worst result so far.This tape bleeds through no matter what you do. I’ve tried everything and it still bled through. Masked up, painted a larger area, removed as advised - it took off most of the paint underneath leaving me a big repair job. Crap!! If you can't trust the test what do you do. Clearly you can't test it all - that wouldn't be a test that'd be doing the job!! Ironically this is the first time I've ever used FrogTape and, even more annoyingly, the first time I've ever masked to paint rails, frames etc, relying instead on a good brush, care and patience. Never again!!
