The book is set after the events of the first film. Sunny misses her father and vents to Izzy that she wishes he could have seen the ponies united. Izzy tries to cheer her up, but tries to do so by having Sunny engage in Izzy's favorite activities. Izzy remembers that Sunny's favorite things include baking, making smoothies, and skating. Sunny is still grateful for Izzy's company and proposes they go skating together. Ion is unable to avoid or restrain himself from acting as a Green Lantern would in protectorship and heroism for those in need. This compounds the burdens of his "mundane" Equestrian life by having an additional secret identity to maintain (cosmic entity, "normal" earth pony, super hero), but also gives him a strong sense of humility in the value of having a "normal" mortal life. In The Manesquerade Ball, Sunny attends the anonymous ball with her friends and Misty, planning for them to perform a "Unity dance" she created. Despite her friends not having practiced enough, the dance is made a success by the group improvising. Overall a good chapter (7). The word count alone earns you high marks. It was also the correct (literary) call to not split this into multiple chapters.
