Having escaped the cruel bellowing and the wild son of Pasiphaë and the coiled habitation of the crooked labyrinth"... [31] Alan Albert Gibbons (born 14 August 1953) is an English writer of children's books and campaigner known for his advocacy of libraries. As Theseus aged, however, his wisdom left him, and he began making foolish decisions. Eventually, he lost popularity with the people of Athens, and rebellions broke out. In the end, Theseus abdicated, and left for the island of Skyros, where he was killed by Lycomedes, the island’s ruler, who thought that Theseus had come to seize his throne. For instance, the first obstacle Theseus met on his way to Athens was a bandit by the name of Periphetes, who would kill his victims by bashing their heads with a club. Instead of trying to overcome his adversary with brute force, Theseus decided to use his wits. The hero started an argument with Periphetes by saying that he did not believe that his club was made of brass, as the bandit had claimed. Agitated by this, Periphetes allowed Theseus to inspect his weapon by handing it over to the hero. Once the club was in his possession, Theseus killed the bandit with it. My personal thoughts on this novel was it was overall well-written and paced. We first establish the existence of a game called the "Legendeer", a truly innovative virtual game, which is great for our protagonist Phoenix who basically hates everything about his life - his school, his house, and his computer geek dad embarrasses him. Whenever he immerses himself in the game, he's found his world, his destiny - inside the computer. But soon things turn for the worst, and when Phoenix tries to escape this "realm of Ancient Greek Mythology", he can't! Theseus was a hero in Greek mythology and a legendary king of Athens. The most famous myth involving Theseus is the one in which he slayed the dreaded Minotaur. Many stories about Theseus say he not only displayed courage and strength, but also wisdom and shrewdness. Moreover, as king of Athens, Theseus was responsible for strengthening the city and turning it into a regional power. Theseus’ Parents Gibbons worked as a journalist and in a number of factory jobs before training to be a teacher in his mid-thirties. [2] Literary career [ edit ]

The more clues you find while in the maze, the deeper into the districts you can travel, and the longer you can stay there. However, the deeper you go, the more alerted the mice are, and you must remain discrete to avoid capture. These clues give your compass information on the best hiding spots for your district, which is measured in Stealth. The more Stealth you have, the longer you can hunt in the city before being caught by the guards and forced out. The short story The House of Asterion by the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges gives the Minotaur's story from the monster's perspective.

To enter the Lair of the Minotaur, Hunters require at least 30 Fealty, 30 Scholar, 30 Tech clues and a Minotaur Key. As part of this campaign, Gibbons initiated countrywide 'read ins' to protest against library closures, which he described as a "cultural crime". Some 110 events took place across the country, involving up to 10,000 people. [10] Write a description through the use of poetry, or read this one for inspiration for descriptive story-writing.
