About this deal

The Meaco has four main operating modes: Humidistat lets you choose your target humidity between 30 and 80%rh (relative humidity); Laundry makes use of the 280m³/hour fan speed to dry clothes; Quiet turns off the beeper and lowers the fan speed; and Auto mode regulates the compressor and fan speed to retain an ideal balance of 50% humidity. It even has a built-in ionizer to help clean the air. There is a humidistat for controlling the humidity, and a specific laundry setting that will run the dehumidifier for six hours on full power. It can help with drying clothes, as well as reducing condensation and moisture on windows. There’s also a timer function, to give better control over energy usage.

Keep in mind that you’re unlikely to need to run the dehumidifier at all times. It can rapidly reduce humidity, so most people have it on for period of time each day (or when needed). Features The Electriq uses very little energy (180 watts) and comes with an air purifier function replete with plasma ionizer and UV sterilisation for extra air-cleaning pizzazz. According to Electriq it also ‘dries laundry more efficiently than a tumble dryer’. We’re not convinced it was better than our Bosch tumbler but it did dry a pair of jeans in about 90 minutes, so that’s okay. Continuous drainage function– if you don’t want to worry about emptying the dehumidifier, the drainage function could be useful. A pipe is included with the model although this is only one metre long. If the environment isn’t overly damp, and isn’t used for showering or drying washing, you can use a dehumidifier with a capacity of 14.5 L or less. This applies even in a large rooms of 100 m². In a medium room, of around 45 m², you can get away with using a much smaller dehumidifier, around 5.5 L. Severe DampAs the name implies, this dehumidifier from EcoAir can extract up to 18 litres per day. However, it is worth noting that the extraction rate will depend on the humidity and temperature level within your home. To collect the stated maximum amount of water, you would have to replicate the test climate that the EcoAir DC18 was manufactured to operate in, which is usually only found in hot bathrooms after showering. The EcoAir DC18 underwent tests in conditions of 30ᵒ C and 80% RH to achieve the 18L extraction rate. Some customers claim that the unit is a bit noisy at a higher setting, making it hard to operate overnight Even so, its lower fan setting is much more bearable. At 41dB, it’s not too distracting when in the same room. It’s also probably quiet enough on the lower fan setting to watch TV. Energy Efficiency

This British family-run company makes both compressor and desiccant units and this is its award-winning flagship compressor model. It’s not the prettiest of appliances, granted, but you know what's uglier? Mould up your walls.Automatic restart– the machine automatically restarts using its previous settings if there is a break in power. Generally speaking, a desiccant dehumidifier will be quieter than a compressor model. They tend to have multiple fan speeds which also gives a choice of volume. The quietest dehumidifiers tend to cost a bit more, but it’s well worth the investment if you plan to keep it running through the night. There are two main types of dehumidifier: compressor or refrigerant and desiccant. There’s some good words for your next game of Scrabble. The stats certainly impress. It’s a DC inverter model for a start and that means exceptionally low running costs. In fact, Maeco says that the more you make it work, the more water it collects and the less electricity it will use. It's similar to using air-conditioning - if it runs 24/7 it's more economical. The room’s current RH always shows up on the display. You can reduce relative humidity to as low as 35% with the EcoAir DC18. Although you are free to select the highest setting at 80%, anything above 60% creates suitable breeding conditions for mould and bacteria. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different settings until you find the perfect relative humidity percentage that works for you.
