About this deal

What amazes me about this, is how I can smell almost all the notes which are mentioned very clearly and separately.

I've also found that it can be layered on top of beastmode perfumes to tame them into a more subtle serious smell and make them more wearable in everyday situations. The heart of the fragrance is then all about the vanillic orchid, the exotic spices, the tropical ylang ylang and sun-ripened fruity notes. It is a mish mash of different notes that don't really go together and makes me feel slightly naseous. They don't really complement each other at all and it doesn't feel like much thought went into these notes. Oud is incredibly complex, consisting of over five hundred aroma compounds, so it would be difficult for a single synthetic molecule to replicate its complexity. Synthetic oud fragrances showcase one or two facets inherent to real oud, such as a medicinal note or a smoky sourness. But no oud synthetic can adequately represent its full range of flavors and hues. This is quite a strong blend and can sometimes still find the smell on my clothes - even after washing. What is sold these days as Cambodi oud oil comes either from new trees ( A. Crassna) planted in Cambodia after the wild ones were wiped out, or are a mixture of Thai, Borneo and other regional oils, lightly oxidized to approximate the odor profile of the original Cambodi oil. The Aquilaria trees planted in Cambodia after the depletion of the original trees produce wonderful oud oil. But it does not smell the same as the original Cambodi oil.

Hindi oud is alternatively known as Indian, Bengali, Bangladeshi, and Assamese oud. Originally, Hindi oud referred to a specific terroir. Hindi oil was exclusively distilled from Agallocha-species trees that grow in Assam in Northeastern India, a mountainous area known for its lush tea plantations. But because the Agallocha is now grown in regions other than Assam, and because you can use different woods and force-aging to produce a Hindi-style oil, it is probably more accurate these days to view Indian oud as more a style of oud than strictly a product of its terroir. |OUD ORCHID by Suroorieste un parfum arabesc UNISEX, opulent si plin de șarm predominat de note florale intense. Looks like I am very much in the minority here with this one. Wearing this made me feel so depressed. I was constantly reminded of a wet, rainy cemetary. I did not get any sweetness at all. I usually go for "darker" frags in the colder months, but this one is a no-no for me. This one gets overshadowed by its predecessor "Oud 24 Hours" and I think it deserves more love. The OG is great but this is better. It's more masculine and more versatile.

People usually refer to Borneos as Borneo- style oils not because Borneo oud is extinct (it is not) but in recognition of the fact that it is the scent profile of the Borneo terroir that is important, rather than the species. Specifically, with skillful distillation techniques, it is possible to imbue a non-Borneo distillate with some of the characteristics of a Borneo. Thus, the argument for calling them Borneo- style oils rather than purely Borneo oud oils.

There are so many notes going on, so I cant really explain what I can smell the most but its amazing though i prefer this on my husband and not on me. I lean more towards feminine scents and prefer bitter peach and Velvet Orchid from the TF range. I think that going off of the feeling I get from this fragrance, it would be a fragrance that a man would wear from fall to winter and during the evening only. I also think that it being only worn in cold weather might make it somewhat more tolerable and less strong. Purple Oud is a very dark and smoky fragrance that indeed evokes the color purple, a dark evening sky purple specifically. Saffron is a purple flower with a deep and leathery smell, after all. Tried it today in the shop and it was not a WOW scent unfortunately. It is woody and a bit inky. The drydown gives a slight feeling of encre noir but with more woody notes (possible from the oud). The oud is not medicinal though, which is a good thing. This is a delicious blind buy. British contributors will know of a deliciously rich, caramel flavoured chocolate bar called Caramac. Majestic Gold's patchouli base very much resembles Caramac's distinctive smell and in the beginning it is accompanied by floral notes that lie somewhere between Invictus and One Million. These go within ten minutes and occasional wafts of oud and sweet leather complement the caramel. Deeper into the dry down the gourmand element all but goes and you're left with a bed of a more straightforward patchouli.

Ps. I don't know where to put this but Fruity note here really remind me of Fruity note in La Nuit de L'homme Le Parfum. They both share nondescript fruity note and it's somewhat smell similar, with sharing wet Patchouli.
