About this deal

It’s not a perfect story, at least from an adult’s point of view. The characters feel stereotypical but that didn’t stop the Bring it On story from becoming a franchise of six movies, a musical and even a book though it suffered from the same problem. As an adult I wish she had made the characters more diverse, given them a more well rounded set of interests and hopes but for the age group it’s directed towards I don’t think they’ll care.

Yeah, nobody's taking Harper's spot," Lily declared. "Harper is one of the best dancers in the whole studio." Ziegler perfectly captured adolescent angst, mean girls syndrome and the competitive spirit that comes at this age when it seems like all that matters in life is the next big win. All in all, I had plenty of fun reading this one. It is filled with friendship, fun, sparkles, and dancing. I will definitely have to see if I can find the other two books in the series. As long as they feature Harper as MC and haven’t switched to the other girls. Don’t get me wrong, I like the other girls, but I just want Harper the most as a MC. Thank you to the @kidlitexchange for providing me with a review copy of this book. All opinions are my own. Twelve-year-old Harper has been dancing practically since she could walk. She loves her dance studio and team, and just won her first ever top junior solo in a regional competition. But right before the school year starts, Harper’s parents drop a bombshell—the family has to relocate from their cozy town in Connecticut to sunny Florida for their jobs. That means goodbye to her friends, dance team, trips to see shows in NYC—and did she mention dance team?

As the story progresses we see that things are improving, slowly, with Megan and the other two girls. We do see that while Megan has a mean streak, she is actually quite nice. She just doesn’t show it a lot. I would recommend she does though. 😛 It is Trina who is the sweetest out of the trio and the one who is the most eager to just be friends with Harper. I was definitely happy that it wasn’t the whole story with Megan being a mean girl. I am not sure if I would have rated it this high if it was. For now it was tolerable + with the change in Megan the story only became better. Plus, they formed a front against those ubermeanies The Bells.

Yes!” Remember how I said I appreciate my dance mom? I also appreciate having her leave—so I can get into my head and into the dance zone, I mean. Thankfully, something that doesn’t happen often, Hailey who is Harper’s little sister was actually not too annoying! Just sometimes. Harper was happy with her life in Connecticut. She was satisfied. But she had questions. Would she find another dance studio out in Florida? Would it be a great one like the one she was part of now? What if she couldn’t continue to dance? What about friends? She would have to leave the ones she had built a life with, but would the new kids in Florida let her in? Life seemed so uncertain now.

Oh, no!” My eight-year-old sister, Hailey, dramatically fake-gasped and pointed at me from the couch across from me. “It’s the apocalypse! Harper has . . . wispies!” What Worked? I loved the book, and I don't think it could have been written better. The readers learn about teamwork, friendships, hard work, determination and so much more throughout the story. I loved that Harper was so understanding when she had to give up her home, friends, and dance studio for her dads new job that's a tough thing to do and she handled it so well.

Why did I select this book? I selected this book because it was written by Maddie Ziegler, who I am love so much, she is so awesome and talented, so I just had to read this book. Maddies first book "The Maddie Diaries" was so good, so I knew this book would be too. Yeah, nobody's taking Harper's spot," Lily said. "Harper is one of the best dancers in the whole studio." It's a middle grade but for a middle grade, I didn't mind the writing and I can see why people think it cheesy but cheesy books are good, it also can be viewed as that because of the reviewer's age, we have to take into consideration what the age target is.My hand flew to the top of my head to smooth any wispies that might have escaped my tight ponytail. I wanted this audition to go perfectly, and that included the details that could distract the judges, like flyaway hair. Not so much a biography as a collection of random topics deemed suitable for a 14-year old dancer to talk about. If I were a pre-teen girl, I probably would have enjoyed this a lot. Being a fan of Dance Moms just isn't enough to find this book interesting, there isn't really anything new you didn't already know. I skipped the fashion and make up -tutorials all together, not relevant or interesting to me but again, might be to a teen. At times, this book reads like a commercial for Maddie and all the projects she has going on. Some parts read a bit too edited as well, like the advice Maddie gives. Most of it sounds like the advice your parents would give, not advice a fourteen year old girl would give. Then again, they say she is mature beyond her years. Aun sintiendo que este libro fue demasiado infantil para mi gusto, algo que tengo que recalcar es que mientras leía a estos personajes no podia evitar sentirme nostálgico. Todo lo que sucede en este libro y como reaccionan los personajes me llevaron al pasado y me hicieron recordar como yo era en esa edad, y hasta cierto punto me identifiqué. Eran los años de pureza y diversión total, y este libro me trajo muchos recuerdos. Although I am a dancer and have taken dance (Ballet, Tap, and Hip-Hop), I could not relate. I found myself relating more to my cheerleading. It never did become possible to fit in. But it didn’t only remind me of cheer. The book is more than about dance. It’s so deep and unexpected. I enjoyed every second of it and was not able to put it down. I finished it in 3 days. I just finished The Audition, by Julia Rozines DeVillers and Maddie Ziegler, and it was such a good book. The Audition is about a girl named Harper who has been dancing her whole life, but suddenly moves from Connecticut to Florida. There she joins a new dance studio and gets on the advanced competition team with only four other girls. There she meets three girls who have been dancing together their whole life, but one other new girl. Although at first the other girls aren’t very accepting of her, they soon become friends.

There are a lot of typos but the plot was really interesting. Megan was really mean it would be nice to see more character development by the end of the series.

I’m standing just offstage, waiting for my big moment.I know my mom and dance teacher are in the audience, holding their breath in anticipation. This will be the most challenging dance I’ve ever performed—not only that but the most challenging dance anyone at DanceStarz Academy has ever performed. There’s a lot of pressure on me.
