About this deal

Aptamil Pepti 2 (From 6 months) 400g is suitable for babies over 6 months old for the dietary management of cow's milk protein allergy and has been specifically developed for bottle-fed babies to complement their weaning diet. It is a for special medical purposes and should be used under medical supervision. Medicines that should be initiated by a specialist and prescribed by primary care prescribers only under a shared care protocol, once the patient has been stabilised. Specialist is defined by the APC as a clinician who has undertaken an appropriate formal qualification or recognised training programme within the described area of practice and has a working experience and knowledge within a speciality area A. All babies are different. If an infant is still experiencing symptoms by 6 months of age, Aptamil Pepti 2 can be used. Most babies grow out of their allergy between 1 and 3 years old, particularly if they have delayed symptoms after ingesting cows’ milk. Others may take a bit longer.

The supporting prescribing guideline must have been agreed by the relevant secondary care trust D&TC(s) and approved by the Nottinghamshire APC. Because this is a special dietary food, the taste, smell and appearance will differ from a standard follow on formula. Some mums may also consider changing to cows’ milk at this stage, but this not advised as a main drink until at least 12 months, although it can be used in cooking before then. Growing up milks A.
