It is the role of the Department for Education ( DfE) to define the content of the level 3 qualifications that practitioners must hold to be included in the ratios specified in the early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework. This will enable staff with an EYE qualification and Level 2 English and mathematics qualifications to count in the Level 3 staff: child ratios in childcare settings. This includes those who already hold an EYE qualification, began studying an EYE from September 2014, or will achieve an EYE in the future. The early years foundation stage sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children a broad range of knowledge and skills that provide a foundation for good future progress through school and life. All level 3 early years educator qualifications will require candidates to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of early years education and care, including that they can: Learners interested in the Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (Early Years Educator) (Work Based) will be required to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of early years education and care, including that they can support and promote children's early education and development, plan and provide effective care, teaching and learning that enables children to progress and prepares them for school, make accurate and productive use of assessment, develop effective and informed practice, safeguard and promote the health, safety and welfare of children, work in partnership with the key person, colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals. Both apprenticeships are suitable for those with no previous experience. Level 2 may be more suitable for those leaving school at 16. It allows you to work in an early years setting under supervision, supporting the planning and delivery of education and care for 0-5 year olds, and is an excellent entry point into the sector. Level 3 may be more suitable for those who want to plan, organise and lead enriching learning activities, and perhaps supervise others. This qualification also enables you to be counted within the staff:child ratio guidelines in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework settings have to follow, which is something employers will be looking for. The term ‘children’ is used as an all-encompassing term to include babies, toddlers and young children from birth to age 5. Section i: Summary of qualifications content and assessment criteria for level 3 early years educator A: Qualification contentThe Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. Learners aged 16-19 (and learners aged 19-24 with learning difficulties and/or disabilities) funded by the Education Funding Agency will not require GCSE English and maths grade A* - C prior to commencing their Early Years Educator qualification. Learners can progress to the Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner or other higher level early years qualifications. The City & Guilds qualification for the Early Years Practitioner (Early Years Educator) (Work-based)is mapped to the criteria for Early Years Educator qualifications, published by the National College for Teaching and Leadership. On completion learners will be able to work as Early Years Educators in England.

City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (Early Years Educator) (1080) The test consists of 35 multiple-choice questions and the apprentices will have a maximum of 60 minute to complete the test.
