About this deal

I wasn’t blown away at the value proposition of the original Helios. Now with a new higher price point, the Zeus has very big shoes to fill. Put mildly, the sound quality will need to be a significant improvement over the Helios to compete at this level. If you’re wondering how I’d describe them in a few words, that would be: speedy, punchy, engaging, hard slamming, airy sounding, well-spread around the listener with a strong bass delivery and with an excellent upper treble presence, having a great detail retrieval. It’s hard associating them with other headphones, there is a little bit of the Focal cleanness in here, but it’s more lit un top, there is plenty of bass to please a bass-addict and midrange although linear, it wasn’t sloppy at all. Most importantly it didn’t sound thin, lifeless, boring or bright to me, that would be a critical mistake with a flagship headphone. Let’s find out if HarmonicDyne learned from their first attempt and delivered the goods with their follow-up. By the Gods, I hope so. Linsoul Company Overview The stainless-steel grills are close, but not quite a perfect match to the aluminum headband parts. The promotional photos minimize the difference in the colors of the metals, but it is noticeable when viewed in person.

These sounded decent out of my smartphone, but of course far from excellent, they sounded better out of a Surface 7 Pro and considerably better out of dedicated portable audio devices that I’m testing of late. xDuoo XP-2 Pro and FiiO Q3 had enough juice to drive these to deafening levels and the same can be said about desktop headphone amplifiers. Even that uber-tiny Topping A50S was unleashing their maximum potential, with plenty of headroom left on tap, dynamics were sky high and control of the drivers was impeccable. Portable dongles like FiiO BTR5, HiliDAC Beam 2 or Shanling UP4 shouldn’t have issues driving these to very loud levels and of course mid-tiered portable DAPs didn’t have a slightest problem too. Clamping force is initially too high but easily stretched out by flexing the band carefully with both hands. The Helios (right) have thinner pads and cable than the Zeus (right). Customers have to bear any form of custom/import/processing fees that are applicable for your parcel. The Helios weighs about 360g and the combination of too tight clamping force and minimal padding on the inside of the headband is minimal and only just sufficient to support the weight. The Zeus ups the ante, and weighs approximately 410g without cables.Eventually you connect with someone.... online/youtube... who sort of "likes what you like to hear", and then this becomes very helpful as you continue to accumulate more product, always hoping for the best. While the original Zeus have been described as an overall warm-sounding pair of headphones, the Zeus Elite go a different direction with their tonality. Reactions to the inclusion of wood veneer on the sides of the band are varied (and some folks feel it looks ‘cheap’) but I find it to be a decent match for the cups and fairly attractive. After the splitter, the cable is larger in diameter and covered in braided cloth that may be a bit stiffer, but still soft enough to not get in the way.

Build quality: It's pretty good actually. I like it over most headphones and I don't think it would break over time. The adjustment hinch does feel like it could break, but only if you bend the headphones to the inside and you never do that so it is fine there. The pattern on the outside though feels slightly sharp when you move your fingers over it, could be a problem but I think it's fine. In general though it feels pretty good and I like it. The Zeus’ sound signature can be described as simply “warm”. There is a noticeable hump that peaks around the mid-bass and lower-midrange frequencies and is also the most forward region of the Zeus’ frequency response. Clearly, it’s that darn price that I’m having a hard time getting over. I’m always invested in getting the most sound quality for my dollar, and I’m struggling with the Zeus’ value proposition.Treble is starker on the Phoenix, especially the lower treble which is more forward, giving the Phoenix its V-shaped signature. The Zeus sounds much smoother and less aggressive in comparison. When it comes to resolution, Zeus comes out ahead with more space between elements and superior instrument separation. The soundstage is smaller and more intimate compared to the Zeus. Conclusion As noted, the Poseidon share much of the same materials and design as their two siblings. Again, the precisely crafted wooden cups are the standout feature, while the headband doesn’t seem quite the same level of construction quality. I think it is important to note that the Story and Mission statements of Linsoul declare that they do not solely strive for products with the highest sound quality. Rather they refer to a combination of sound quality and visual style. It seems the aesthetic appeal of their products is as important as how they sound. Technical Specifications

If you are wondering why going for the Greek Mythology, it’s really quite simple: Kennerton, Schiit Audio, Nordost and others already embraced the Norse Mythology in full force so it was a logical move going for the Greek Mythology instead. Midrange.: This is the honey pot. This is the end of the rainbow regarding this Gear. This is a mids dominated sonic treat. This is what you want in your Arya, and your HD800, but you didnt get it, and those are fine products. But THIS is a : "sounds like a British company made it"....Its almost too harmonically complex, actually. I personally like their headband and adjusting mechanism, it looks sleek, has a slim profile, it reminds me a little about Sennheiser HD800. The earcup holders are made out of stainless-steel, but those are filled with some kind of foam, just to keep the weight down as much as possible. Its earcups were carved from walnut wood, its durable, sturdy and has good acoustic properties. There are several headphone manufacturers using this type of wood and knowing that my Meze 99 Classics are more than 2 years old without marks in its wooden cups, I’m pretty sure this one should resist the same amount of use and abuse at my battle-station near several headphone setups.

After the excellent unboxing experience, I had high expectations for the headphone’s build quality and Zeus didn’t disappoint. The spring steel headband is encased in a hard plastic enclosure with generous padding on the underside. The rest of the frame is metal, giving Zeus a reassuring sturdiness and promise of longevity. Let me put it another way....if you are a beginning audiophile, and it was '2020, i would have told you to buy a Sennheiser or the Sundara. If it is plastic sealed when you get it, it should remain plastic sealed. Some types of goods such as CIEMs and custom cables cannot be returned. Upper bass absolutely slaps - like hitting me with a bullet train. Believer by Imagine Dragons is like a dragon slapping your ears I love it.

HarmonicDyne Zeus Open-Back Headphone Review - Major HiFi

Frankly, my feelings about the Helios were merely lukewarm, and while the Zeus offered a significant upgrade (especially in sound quality), I questioned their value proposition. The Zeus are twice the cost but feature almost identical build quality to their sibling. I wondered how much we were paying for the fancy new cable and case, in addition to the more meaningful driver and earpad change.is a dangerous place to be in the headphone world, but the Zeus manages to differentiate itself from the competition. We listened to more songs than those named in this playlist, but those are excellent for identifying a sonic signature. PRaT, Texturization, Detail, Resolution, Dynamics, Impact, and overall tonality are all revealed by those songs. We recommend trying most of the songs from this playlist, especially if you’re searching for new music!
