and since i don't mind/like all of those things, this book worked for me. the only real complaint i had, and i think other readers will have is that the plot literally does not happen until the 95% mark of this book. you know how edward is all shady and "i can't tell u my terrible immortal secret" in twilight? yeah this is like that but if bella didn't figure out he was a vampire until the end of the first book.

The next red flag came when Sean took Cecelia's phone while they were out together and told her she wasn't allowed to have it when she was with him. Red alerts sounded, but I was promised it would all make sense later. Sean was mostly fine until much later in the book when the alarm started BLARING. Do yourselves a favour and read this series! It's a once in a lifetime love journey that you won't soon forget! I cannot recommend it enough! Main character Dallas fell in love hard. She had never met a guy that she was into like Dean Martin, and it would likely be some time before she found a man that she was that emotionally invested in again. He was the start of her heart opening up, the reason that she started feeling all of these feelings. He was also the reason that her heart would close up and her love would end as soon as it began. the plot lost me for 90% of the book what with all the secrecy and evasiveness. there was a scene of the love interests (yes, plural cause there were TWO) arguing about their views on materialism, and i was like... just what the hell am i reading?!? the suspense only kept me MILDLY interested cause it wasnt building up to anything so much as it was just stalling. the thought to DNF was never far from my mind.

This was not just a book, this was a goddamn experience. This trilogy is so special to me, nothing will EVER match up to the feelings Kate Stewart evoked in me whilst following Cecelia, Tobias, Dom, Sean, & Tyler's journey. The whole entire story was as unique as it was nostalgic. The only thing that made me 🫣- the age gap between Cecelia and Sean/Dominic. I get that age is just a number but seven years is rather large when you’re nineteen years old. I like her because she's not a doormat and actually stood up for herself many times. It's just her ignorance to the RED FLAGS that were making me frustrated. She's the type who'll get murdered in horror films first or get kidnapped by sitting with a random stranger. *Taking a picture of a driver's license and sending it to your friend won't help when you're dead.* Go grab this book now! While you're at it, grab book 2 too, because you're going to want to jump straight into that one next!
