About this deal

A number of natural plant oils have an insect repellency effect and have been used as such for many centuries. The ‘natural’ aspect of these oils is very appealing and they can prove useful in protecting the wearer from biting flies. Their very naturalness can have downsides, though, including a comparatively short duration of effectiveness and (because of the complexity and variability of the oil) a greater potential for an unwanted reaction than synthetic repellents.

Neem oil has many uses. It is a versatile substance with beneficial medicinal properties. It is used commonly to treat skin infections, minor injuries and fungal or bacterial skin conditions. For horses that are bothered by flies and midges and rub and scratch away parts of their mane, tail and even their coat, Neem Oil is ideal. It can be applied, neat or diluted, to keep the pesky insects away in the first instance and avoid your horse being bitten. Once your horse has been bitten and is itchy, Neem Oil can be applied to the itchy and rubbed areas. Neem helps stop further biting, deeply moisturises and soothes the skin, and encourages rapid hair re-growth. Mix water and vinegar in equal parts and pour it into the spray bottle. It is important that you do not use fruit vinegar, as this attracts bees and wasps. Shake the mixture well before use and then spray generously. Avoid the head and private parts. It is best to test it on a small area of your horse beforehand. Just like us, horses can get allergies or skin irritations from some liquids. However, most horses do very well with this fly spray! Neem Oil has repellent properties and has been scientifically tested for use against midges. The University of Edinburgh 1 evaluated Neem oil for “ repellent and anti-feedant activity” against the biting midge Culicoides impunctatus and concluded that blood-feeding by the midge was “ significantly reduced by topical applications of Neem oil”. Essential oil neem oil, also known as super oil, is extracted from the seeds and leaves of the neem tree. It is a natural oil that is considered to be a super oil due to its many benefits. It grows in semi-tropical and tropical climates. The leaves and trees of the neem tree contain a special substance called Azadirachtin.Neem oil is pressed from the fruit and seeds of the neem tree ( Azadirachta indica) most commonly found in India. This tree is a complete treasure cheat of healing the list includes leprosy, malaria, TB, as a contraceptive, skin conditions, hair products, body hygiene, ringworm, herpes, warts, fungal infections, lice, mange, inflammations, fevers, in organic farming it has been used as a pesticide and insecticide. A powerful natural remedy, neem powder is available in a variety of forms and can help with a variety of skin problems. It is an excellent ingredient for skincare because it is high in antioxidants and has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic properties. What is the correct dosage of neem powder? If you want to make a scrub mask, combine neem powder, besan, and turmeric, emulsifying it with rose water, and massaging it into your face for about five minutes in circular motions. After applying the paste to your face, allow it to sit on your face for 20 minutes. Apply neem powder and a few drops of grapeseed oil to dry skin to make it a moisturizer. Your skin will be hydrated, and your complexion will be glowing, thanks to the combination of these ingredients. Pro Equine Neem Oil The essential oil is very expensive to obtain as it has to be processed intensively to extract the small proportion of active repellent and, as with all essential oils, the duration is limited and the product must be re-applied frequently. Having said that, its fragrance is so delicious that it is worth using on oneself for its dual properties as both a perfume and an insect repellent! It does turn up as the main active in a few insect repellents, eg Stop-Bite, but is used in most products to enhance midge repellency. Insect-repelling oils include geranium, eucalyptus, lemongrass, orange, cedarwood, citronella, juniper, rosemary, lavender, thyme, garlic, tea tree, peppermint, lemon, pine, and clove. Applying just a teaspoon Neem oil (5 ml) to a litre of water makes a really effective spray for such pests as Aphids, Whiteflies, Snails, Root Knot Nematodes and even Mealybugs.

In fact it’s pretty difficult to list all the benefits of Neem in general (we also offer the powdered shells as a fertilizer and soil pest repellent.) The other is that a very few people ( I have never met one but it has been reported) may be allergic to the oil. As a result, flies are unable to cross over the bubble around your horse. Natural sprays aren’t particularly effective at killing flies due to the fact that they are primarily used to repel them. Most commonly, the solution must be shaken before use. I have used pure Neem Oil on open wounds with amazing results. Horses hate to have cuts and wounds washed out, so all you need is Neem Oil, as this will clean the infection, keep flies at bay, sooth and heal all at the same time. I have tried this several times now, and Neem is a truly great healer! pour and rub the pure cold pressed neem oil into the frog area, the grooves and the central sulcus area daily and then every other day and so on and so on. The central sulcus area starts to widen, the frog expands and starts to look much healthier. Replace the nozzle and shake. It makes about 32 ounces of fly spray, which is the typical size of a bottle of commercial fly spray. To get full-body breakouts, mix a large amount of neem oil with warm water. Then shake the bottle and pour into a spray bottle.

Spraying: Gently spray the diluted neem oil onto the horse's skin and coat, ensuring even coverage of the entire body, especially areas where pests often gather. Use warm water when you mix the oil, and you should keep on shaking to avoid separation. Some people even add insectidal soap for a real whammy If your horse ever gets rainscald, I highly recommend neem oil and neem shampoo, both are amazing at clearing and healing this skin condition.

Neem oil can be used to treat insect and fungal diseases. suffocation causes insects’ bodies to become covered in oil, preventing them from breathing. Because of this, it is the most effective tool for controlling immature insects. Adults of mature insects are not typically killed, but feed and reproduce on their own. Harness The Power Of Neem Oil To Keep Pests At Bay It's important to note that proper application of neem oil to horse skin is crucial for its effectiveness. Neem oil is typically diluted with a carrier oil to prevent skin irritation. The specific dilution ratio may vary, but a common ratio is 1 part neem oil to 10 parts carrier oil. Pure cold pressed neem oil is just amazing for soothing bad places where your horse has rubbed, it keeps the midges at bay whilst the bad places heal. It is so safe to use you can put it onto the sore areas, as this will heal and sooth and keep the midges away. I part the mane and pour a few drops onto the skin and massage in. With the tail I rub the oil into the top part and massage well, they love this! Once your horse has healed but is still prone to the midges I recommend applying it every other day as and when you think your horse needs it. In the summer I can go for maybe 3 - 4 days before I have to re-apply the neem oil. Some people believe sweetitch is down to the immune system not working properly, so I also give neem leaf in with their food. The natural and effective way to kill plants that pestize them is to use neem oil, but this should not be done too often. If you apply neem oil excessively, you may cause plants to lose their leafy pores, which are essential for photosynthesis, transpiration, and oxygen release. Furthermore, if used at night, neem oil can cause foliage burns. To avoid these problems, use neem oil once a week on all leaves, stems, and soil, and then remove any remaining pests. After you apply it, there is no need to wipe it down. By following these simple steps, you can use neem oil to protect your plants from pests without causing them any harm.
