About this deal

Dosage is based on your medical condition, product type/brand, and response to treatment. Do not use large amounts, apply this medication more often, or use it for a longer period than directed. Your condition will not clear faster, but the chance for side effects may be increased. Before using an OTC acne product for the first time, apply a small amount to one or two small affected areas of the skin for 3 days. If no discomfort occurs, follow the directions on the drug facts label of the product.

Do not use an OTC acne product again if you have developed a serious allergic reaction from it. Side Effects of Sal-Acid Plaster Salicylic acid works by softening keratin, a protein that forms part of the skin structure. This helps to loosen dry scaly skin making it easier to remove. When salicylic acid is used in combination with other medicines it takes off the upper layer of skin allowing the additional medicines to penetrate more effectively. Any other topical acne preparation or preparation containing a peeling agent (eg, benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, sulfur, or tretinoin [vitamin A acid]) To use any of the above preparations on the same affected area as salicylic acid may cause severe irritation of the skin. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: diabetes, poor blood circulation (such as peripheral vascular disease), skin infection/irritation.Do not use this medicine on warts with hair growing from them or on warts on the face, in or on the genital (sex) organs, or inside the nose or mouth. Also do not use on moles or birthmarks. To do so may cause severe irritation.

The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of this medicine. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially: Using this medicine with any of the following medicines may cause an increased risk of certain side effects, but using both drugs may be the best treatment for you. If both medicines are prescribed together, your doctor may change the dose or how often you use one or both of the medicines. Wash the area to be treated and dry thoroughly. Warts may be soaked in warm water for 5 minutes before drying. The formulation offers the highest concentration of salicylic acid commensurate with presenting it in a convenient collapsible aluminium tube fitted with a special applicator nozzle, allowing it to be dispensed precisely to the affected area(s). This minimises the spread of the preparation onto the surrounding healthy skin, which could otherwise lead to inflammation, irritation and poor patient compliance. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Salicylic acid can be absorbed through the mother's skin. The risks and benefits will need to be discussed with your doctor before using any preparations containing salicylic acid. Protect areas surrounding the affected area by applying petroleum jelly around the periphery of the area to be treated. There are no adequate studies in women for determining infant risk when using this medication during breastfeeding. Weigh the potential benefits against the potential risks before taking this medication while breastfeeding. Interactions with Medicines
