About this deal

Manga Bible (新約聖書 Shinyaku Seisho) is a five-volume manga series based on the Christian Bible created under the direction of the non-profit organization Next, a group formed by people from the Manga industry. Appealing to kids and adults, readers will find this edgy rendition of the early church accounts both compelling and highly engaging.

Other than the preachy speeches from the artists at the beginning and end, I very much enjoyed this.

The Manga Bible is a summary of the Bible, which implies that many parts are left out, altered a bit, or only partially used. Within the manga itself, Siku also uses different levels of formality; there are pages, where he stays within the panels and other times where no panels at all exist.

I'd recommend it to anyone - for Christians, it's a fun new way to read the Bible, and for everyone else, it just reads as an entertaining action-adventure story. The Manga Bible is a form of the bible written in Manga form so that people who like manga can enjoy the bible more. Later they were published in plain closely printed text, in the common language, to get them into as many people's hands as cheaply as possible. He also includes the specific chapter and verse the scene is from in case the reader wants to take a more in depth look in the actual bible. Siku is also a public speaker and teacher, regularly giving speeches at Eton College and given talks to academics at The Queen’s Foundation, Birmingham about his work on contemporary art, hermeneutics and rhetoric.Siku represents this by telling the revelation through the dreams of a girl in a hospital in the 21st century. The text and the drawings are based on the original scripture, but they also use free interpretation. It's a good launchpad for newcomers, but it's also good at refreshing old hands at things they've studied for years. Actually, when you look at the Bible, a lot of the stories can lend themselves to the manga style treatment.

One verse has a photo of a pair of knickers draped over high-heeled shoes, sending you back to the passage to find out what it's really about. Thus, The Manga Bible focuses on books that provide action and it also shows the violence and sexuality that is portrayed in the Bible. Whether it's manga, American-style, or even using Legos, they always suffer from some problem: too much of the original's content left out, excessive wordiness, shoddy illustrations, etc.Akin shares his own faith background, how he modernized the dialogue, and what particular challenges he faced creating the book. All in all, it’s an entertaining and quick read that stays true to original and inserts just enough historical information to orient a modern audience. Since the story bounced around the characters similarly did, making it hard to get attached to one or another. Though they start the story off as a retelling from Moses where he tells his children the tales of how God created the world and tells them about how they ate the apple of sin through that perspective, based on what I've learned about genesis and a few of the other chapters in the bible I can vouch that this Manga Bible is very accurate.
