About this deal

A chain wear tool makes it easy to see when your chain is worn, so that you can replace it timeously. You can find chain wear tools here. User tips I'm sorry I do not understand what this is referring to. I measured 4000miles chain + 0mile chain, both same measurement (campy chains last A LOT). If you find an item at a lower price with another commercial internet retailer, you will receive it from us at the same price, provided the conditions listed in the link are met. Chain reaction Cycles and CRC are trading names of Wiggle Ltd (In Administration) registered in the United Kingdom at 1000 Lakeside, Suite 310, Third Floor N E Wing, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO6 3EN, When fitting or removing this chain it's useful to remove some tension from the chain at the point where you want to break it or close the link. You can do this by making a hook from an old spoke, but some chain breaker tools actually include a handy hook precisely for this purpose. You use it to hook the part of the chain you want to work on, pulling the tension off it. You can read a detailed explanation of how to replace your chain in this blog.

I think Shimano/SRAM cassette has a bit different teeth profile so this is not happening, it's very apparent on campy chorus cassette on both of my bikes. Also, I noticed on freshly oiled/waxed chains not apparent as well, but 2-3 rides and it's starting to appear, have it on both of my bikes by the way. When you buy a chain, it's always too long. That means that you always need to cut it to length, and you do this using a chain breaker (also called a chain rivet tool). You can view our selection of chain breakers here. Some multi-tools contain a chain breaker. Make sure that you select a chain breaker for the right speed chain though - the size of the pins is different according to the speed of the chain.

The granting of a best price is not combinable with other promotions (e.g. "free articles) from Bike-Discount. Slightly off topic: I use an 11 speed Record chain with Chorus cassette. Everything else is Super Record mechanical. Has anyone tried the Chorus chain with this set up? I was thinking a Chorus chain might last a little longer.

The reason why I'm at a standstill is I need to take the chain apart every 3 weeks to dip in wax, and breaking pin and reinstalling does not sound like the right move, pins also super expensive. This chain comes standard with a missing link. The addition of this missing link makes mounting the chain easy, but it's also ideal for when you want to give your bike a deep clean. To open the missing link you need a missing link pliers, which you can find here.
