So, I kind of knew that the type of life I wanted to lead would not happen in Guatemala and the type of opportunities that I wanted to have were not there. And that’s why I decided that I would try to go to college in the United States.I felt like I was really changed while I was in my mission, by the people, by the adventure, by every single postcard Samy sent, and he has built me into the person I am today. And also words of encouragement or words of telling me, “I am proud of you. Your whole family’s proud of you.” It’s just very important to hear, you know?
