About this deal

Further, the addition of PTFE in GT85 makes it a slightly different product to WD40 that can fulfil other needs such as chain lubrication. But the biggest difference compared to rivals was Ferrosol’s ability to ward off corrosion – it was the only fluid which kept our steel rust free for longer than a week. Even after a month of being showered in salty water there was only minor surface corrosion on the steel, while all of the other samples had all given up and looked indistinguishably rusty. IMO GT85 works, is dry enough not to hold onto grit, but simply does not resist being washed off. To rely on GT85 means constant re-application in the damp season (ie all the time).

Traditional oils tend to attract dirt so should be avoided if possible, which is why a product like GT85 is a better choice for use as a cleaner / lubricant. A cookie set by YouTube to measure bandwidth that determines whether the user gets the new or old player interface. Clean your motorcycle chain – it will remove all dirt, grease and prior lubricants leaving the metal stripped completely, be sure to remove all remnants of WD40 prior to lubing your chain againAs much as the two products are similar in many respects, they are different horses for different courses. GT85 is also inclusive of lavender oil, making it a pleasant smelling product to use. Which is better? Finally, weneeded totrythe actual lubrication properties. Without a full laboratory at our disposal, we usedabearinglesswheelwhich simply spinson a metal axle. We degreased the parts thoroughly between tests and then sprayed thesurfaceswith each of the samples. The wheel was then spun using an electric motor and the revolutions counted before it finally stopped. In terms of a protectant, WD40 is very good at looking after your chrome and metals, keeping them safe from water intrusion, rust and corrosion. Surprisingly, once you've cleaned your bike you can use GT85 to get a real shine from the frame, of course using a different cloth, preferably dry and microfibre.

Just remember that to truly protect, you’ll need to spray regularly, as damp and other external acids from rain may corrode through the PTFE coat over time. The original WD40 multi-use product has been in production for over 60 years; they perfected the formula after 40 attempts in 1953.The added PTFE was designed to reduce friction, wear and energy consumption on components, improving operating efficiency on application. It'll help remove the worst of the rust and will get all the important parts moving again. By no means is this a cure - but it'll get the bike to a rideable state for sure. It's likely you'll need to replace a few components, but at least this way you can ride to the bike shop. Butin all of the other tests itscored badlysuggesting GT85 is not such anall-rounder.It offered very little in the way ofprotectionto our bare steel, withsignificant surfacerust showing after just two dayson our sample. And you wouldn’t be able to rely on it to get you started on a damp day either, as it camelast in our water dispersal test, allowing current to pass through after spraying. The verdict This water displacing spray is perfect for your engine. It not only cleans away oil as well as any other dirt, but also drives out moisture from electrical systems, like spark plugs.
