About this deal

She fights for what she believes is right, and becomes empowered to continue her journey against all odds. La noche de carnaval, mientras todo el mundo en la localidad se divierte, llegan a las puertas del convento dos mujeres heridas que morirán pasadas unas horas no sin antes entregar a Beatrice un libro. Not long after men of faith with Brother Abramo at head, show up who want the book desperately to destroy it for it contains secrets that are forbidden. Since our earliest beginnings, every documented society has gathered to perform elaborate rites and ceremonies - from mass worship to body modification - yet ritual poses a deep paradox: why do we give the utmost importance to otherwise pointless activities?

Es un libro que se lee rápido, sin complicaciones (más allá de que si se te hace aburrido como a mí, algunas partes se hacen durillas). The book brims with unexpected insights, described with a lovely mixture of scientific veracity and novelistic flair. The Book of Eve by Meg Clothier is a well written feminist tale set in Italy during the Renaissance period and readers without any knowledge of the Voynich manuscript will enjoy this immensely. A unique plot with a strong protagonist, this fascinating piece of historical fiction is one that I think should not be missed. Taking inspiration from the elusive Voynich Manuscript and its mysteries, Meg Clothier delivers an empowering tale of knowledge, faith, and female unity with her third novel, The Book of Eve. This is a stand-alone novel, and if you are a fan of the dark academia subculture, particularly within the literature, as well as a fan of novels such as The Handmaid’s Tale, I would recommend that you give this one a read.

Das Buch Eva" von Meg Clothier, übersetzt von Edith Beleites, ist ein historischer Roman mit phantastischen Elementen und hat mich sofort angesprochen, als ich gesehen habe, worum es geht: Im Italien der RenaissanceGenerally speaking, the book is easy to read, but I did find that the choice of vocabulary at times felt a little superfluous – our main character is indeed a well-read and educated young woman, so this was a trait I could overlook as it befits her, but it sometimes stifled the flow of the prose as a consequence. It really picks up on a secret world, and as a woman who is not known for following rules it feels that the book ending up in her possession was meant to be.
