About this deal

No they don’t. The price of food is fluctuating so much at the moment that this would be almost impossible to be accurate on. With just a few great value ingredients, you have a full meal in 15 minutes. I love beef mince with green beans, but you can use whichever suits your tastes. I cooked this Beef Bourguignon (once it had reached full pressure) for 45 minutes and it was perfectly soft and tender. Some of the meat had fallen apart into the sauce but I quite like it like that for a really meaty, rich sauce. If you wanted more firm pieces of meat that all hold their shape, you could reduce this by 5 minutes. In the freezer This recipe freezes well. Just wait until it’s totally cold and then put into a freezer proof container and freeze for up to 3 months. Defrost thoroughly before reheating.

Take the unpeeled garlic bulb (yes a whole bulb!) and wrap up in tin foil. Place alongside the meat parcel in the slow cooker. In the UK a Beef Stew (or any type of stew in fact) is usually cooked on the stove top in a lidded saucepan. In the fridge You can keep this recipe in the fridge for 3 days. Reheat fully in the microwave or hob before serving.

Cosy jumpers, log fires, leaves, crisp air, and all the stew and casseroles and Beef Bourguignon I can cram into our meal plans. I’m Sarah Rossi (was Sarah Barnes) and for the last 10 years, I’ve shared recipes online to help make your life easier. About Me: Sarah Rossi Whereas a casserole (in the UK at least) tends to be a similar dish, but cooked in the oven in a lidded saucepan.

Went down so well with my 7 year old twins. They have been super fussy recently, so I was so relieved when they gobbled it up! Then, after giving it a good stir, secure the lid, allow the pressure cooker to come up to pressure and when the time is up, release the pressure. This is the kind of dish that we all loved as children but the pressure to come up with a perfect Yorkshire Pudding recipe can make it feel a bit daunting to attempt as adults. We all need a new pasta recipe in our lives from time to time, so here is a new winning formula for those meal plans! First you add cornflour to a small bowl, mug or jug, then use a little liquid from the dish (a spoonful or two) to mix the cornflour into a paste consistency. Well, I am here to tell you that it’s not that difficult, you don’t have to worry about perfection here (NEVER!) and that when you find the best Toad in the Hole recipe – and the simplest – you’ll be making this homemade version over and over again. Lean mince – you can use beef or lamb here. Whichever is your preference. I find 10% fat works very well, and 5% is also fine but can be quite dry, so be sure to pour over plenty of the cooking liquid if you use this low-fat mince.

It’s that time of year when we need simplicity. We need healthy, hearty, ideally low-cost meals that don’t take up too much energy to make and are going to see us through our January hibernation. That prompted a collection of summer slow cooker recipes that were great for the warmer months and meant moving away slightly from stodgier dishes like traditional stews. I followed recipe almost exact but subbed beans with garden peas & fish sauce with hoisin sauce as they were what I had to hand. The recipe uses 165g of cream cheese but the Aldi pots come in 200g so I used the whole pot. Up to you if you use it all or save some for another day.

I make toad in the hole frequently as its a family favourite but following a different recipe. It always end up okay but not great. Using a weekly Meal Plan takes the drama out of midweek dinners. Stay balanced, save money and save your sanity! This blog is about how I feed my family whilst busy juggling life. I originally named it as I thought I’d write about parenting, but predictably it ended up being all about food because: Follow the recipe instructions up until the point you put it in the slow cooker (but add in the garlic to the wrapped meat instead of leaving it out). Place it in a casserole dish with a tight-fitting lid if you can to stop the meat drying out. Put in the oven and cook at 180c for 1 hour.

It has a little heat from the peri peri seasoning but I wouldn’t say it’s unpalatable for children. But perhaps be cautious for those with zero spice tolerance! Brown your beef and bacon, followed by vegetables (as detailed below). Add in your liquid and pop on the lid of a casserole dish. Pop it into an oven, preheated to 160C for 3 hours to 3.5 hours. Freeze leftovers wherever you can. Make sure you’re not throwing any veg away (make soup!), and plan, plan, plan! Don’t try and be a hero or a super parent. Travelling with children is very different. Set your own expectations, they need downtime and they won’t always be impressed by the culture that we think they should be impressed by!
