About this deal

The buds pressed down hard on the inside of my ears, to the point where my upper jaw ached by the end of my sessions wearing them. Probably the most interesting design choice however is the dual-driver technology Razer employs which also gives the headphones their namesake. At the same time, the buds can feel pretty sparse, especially compared to Razer's more ornate full-size headsets.

Dual Driver technology functions by having two audio drivers work in harmony to deliver perfectly balanced sound – with deep bass from the Dynamic Driver and bright, high-frequency details from the Balanced Armature Driver. Since Razer doesn’t include a way to manage the cable, you may need to tuck the other earbud cable into your shirt to keep it out of the way. From their bold designs to taking risks on different technologies, it’s never dull digging into a Razer product and the new Razer Hammerhead Duo, a pair of in-ear dual-driver earbuds, are no different. Halfway down the right earbud cord, there's a small inline controller with three buttons: volume up, play/pause and volume down.

The Hammerhead Duo primes dual driver technology to become a standard for mobile audio users,” said Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO.

Though if you’re looking for the ultimate noise canceling headset, I would recommend getting the Hammerhead ANC. Oh and if it wasn’t obvious, this doesn’t work with the Razer Phone by the way (or any other phone without an audio-jack slot for that matter). The triple headed snake logo is the only sign of color anywhere on the headphones, splashes of green peeking out of each earphone. Keeping within 1 meter of your mobile device, open the charging case lid without taking out the earbuds and ensure there’s enough battery power by checking the LED indicator on the charging case. One of the pros of this headset is how compatible it is with everything since it’s an audio-jack version. We featured the ANC version of the Razer Hammerhead headphones the other week, so this week I tried the Razer Hammerhead Duo Headphones, which is the non-noise cancelling version. Possibly due to the tuning of the balanced armature driver, there’s a high-end frequency lift, probably meant to give the audio sources a bit more clarity, that can get a bit fatiguing. While I had my issues with the Hammerhead Duo, I should point out that my experience wasn't universal. You'll have to do a little experimenting to find out which one suits your ears best — which is why it's unhelpful that the tips are such an absolute pain to attach to the buds.
