About this deal

Because the games are sourced worldwide, if there is an issue with a missing component you will have to reach out to the specific publisher. If you are having issues reaching the publisher directly, please reach out to us. If people were engaged in the natural world as much as they are in poker and Pokémon, we could make a positive impact. Post this

I have mentioned some of the negatives earlier in my review but they are very inconsequential compared with the sheer joy of having a great round and rescuing lots of passengers. I've briefly mentioned the fact that you have to "safely" exit the game to make the SOS Shop work without going sad. If you incorrectly quit the game while in battle or in a boss, you WILL go sad and lose your gags. How you safely close the game without losing your gags is by using Task Manager to force quit the game, such that the game acts like you crashed and therefore will not penalize you for it. You've probably crashed multiple times in game and wondered why you didn't go sad or lose your gags. We're essentially just emulating this and taking advantage of it so that we can safely leave the VP to try for a better reward. Once again, should this be the case? Maybe. I'm not sure. But let's just say that it it should be.I want to preface this segment by saying that this is in no way a requirement for SOS Shopping in VP. SOS Shopping can be as relaxed as you want (to an extent), but I want to point out what I have found to be a commonality within all the good SOS Shopping groups I've been in, so that if you do want to be efficient with it, then you can choose to! At 23:40 on April 14, 1912 in the North Atlantic, the R.M.S. Titanic strikes an iceberg. Water immediately floods into the liner's compartments and the ship is listing to starboard in a worrying way. There is no hope about the outcome. On board, there is widespread panic. If you like solitaire or solo games and are looking for something new (with amazing components) then SOS Titanic is the game for you. The game also has Wildlife Corridor cards which mean you can link to other players’ biomes. For example, if you have a forest biome and someone else has a forest biome you can play a Wildlife Corridor and it means at the end of the game if your forest biome is still surviving you’ll get points from the other person’s forest too. If your forest gets destroyed, your animals will be able to migrate down the corridor to the other person’s biome. I love this because it shows how important wildlife corridors are in real life.

I really like this game a lot. It is the solo game I always wanted but didn’t know could exist. It takes one of my earliest memories of games and fills it with excitement, drama and fun. Let’s get some negatives out of the way though, this is not a multiplayer game for me. The instructions say 1 to 5 players can play cooperatively but the game is hard enough already without adding 4 other people’s opinions on what should be done next. SOS Shopping is a fun way to ensure that you get the SOS cards that you need. To some extent, it removes the randomness of the rewards and saves you so much time from having to complete endless VPs to be able to finally get a useful card. Take note that SOS Shopping is an agreed arrangement within toons and there are no ways the game can help you ensure that the run will go smoothly, ie. toons can leave even if they should have stayed. So, it is largely a matter of trust within each other with the expectation that you will do what you are required to do, and therefore you have to know the right etiquette in doing so! SOS' is a family card game emphasizing fun while exploring problems species face today. 'SOS' is published by Wild Dog Games; a not-for-profit games publisher, and has been co-created with the WWF. It’s perfect for those age 7+, requires 2-5 players and takes just 15 minutes to play. You've gotten the SOS card that you want, defeat the VP, and everyone is happy. At this stage, people can choose to decide if they want to have another run straight away (if they are Maxed). If all 8 decide to stay, then awesome, just do the process all over again. If some leave, then a new group is made in ToonHQ (usually by the leader) and toons will rejoin the group.Alone, or co-operating with other crew members, you must show presence of mind and do the right thing to save as many passengers as possible. Time is short... On your turn you have the option of firstly moving any passengers to another pile of cards (called changing lines) if they follow the placement rules, or onto a lifeboat if one is available. Then you have to take one action. This could either be to play an action card (if you have one) or to set up a passenger rescue. In the good SOS shopping groups I've been in, there has been a good allocation of roles and responsibilities, especially for the toon who started the group, ie. the host.

This is how you do components for a card game. A beautifully illustrated box, a well written rule book, great quality cards and the grandest playing book you have ever seen.So does SOS Titanic from Matagot sink beneath the iceberg or cling on to that large floating piece of wood screaming ‘I’m king of the world’? Read on to find out. A Ship Built For Kings In any case, the etiquette would be that majority rules and you HAVE to abide by the consensus. If the group chooses to stay, you stay. If they choose to leave, you leave. It would be disrespectful to leave toons behind or stay when they want to leave as both parties would end up with less players. SOS Shopping is about trust that your fellow toons will do the right thing by you.

Playing 'SOS' is one way younger generations can discover fun facts about nature and wildlife, the threats they face and ways to protect them. Solitaire still makes appearances in my life if I have a spare 10 minutes on a journey or I am pretending to work at a computer. Then I heard that Bruno Cathala & Ludovic Maublanc had designed a game about rescuing passengers from the ill-fated Titanic using the solitaire mechanism. Another possibility is that if you did not initially decide on an SOS list to stay for then a voting system in the elevator happens and majority rules. I can see how this works but it has potential to be a bit messy, with some toons who disagree with the decision choosing to leave the toons who want to stay behind, or cause some unnecessary arguments. So, why not just decide on the list before going in the elevator in the first place? Funds raised from the SOS crowdfunding campaign will be used to pay for production and distribution of the game. All profits from SOS sales will help endangered species worldwide. 75% of profits from all editions will go to WWF and the remaining 25% will go to other charities working to protect species and their habitats.Taking all of that into account I absolutely love this game. It is essentially solitaire on steroids. Research shows playing card games helps children increase and develop motor, cognitive and emotional skills. SOS Save Our Species allows children to improve on these skills while igniting their imaginations. SOS encourages them to be explorers, naturalists, collaborators and protectors. Okay, so you've decided on the SOS cards to stay for and everyone is happy with it, so you board the elevator. What usually happens in this case is someone with a good monitor can resize their window such that they can clearly see who the SOS card is. This is heavily dependent on if someone in your group has a good monitor to scout the SOS card as early as in the elevator, which will save A LOT of time. People who can't see it in the elevator will have to watch through the initial animation and have to be in the first battle before they can confirm who it actually is. A bit time consuming. I also like the way the game includes real life problems like deforestation, intensive farming and loss of sea ice. These are on event cards, which can have good or bad things on them. The good ones are things like grant awarded and bonus national park and the bad ones mean your habitats can get destroyed and your animals might go extinct. The worst one is extreme warming, which can destroy lots of different habitats!
