to Iceland as well for when out at night around town or other times when carrying the big lens or a backpack wasn't really appropriate) and figured when I wanted to shoot a zoom, I did prefer to have more versatility of focal range. The higher resolution of the z7 is making a big difference, but if I ignore that, the Nikon lens looks a little softer in the centre, and quite a lot softer towards the edges. The zoom ring is marked at 12, 18, 25, 35, 50, 70, and 100mm's, and also goes from minimum to maximum in about a quarter turn of the ring. ZERO Coating is applied on both sides of the glass, and a satin, glare reducing black alumite aluminum frame is also used. In extreme low-light situations you may experience a little focus hunting at the long end, but the constant f/4 maximum aperture nearly always allows enough light to pass through to the sensor.

Pro, Olympus employed a seven circular-bladed diaphragm, which produces some very nice bokeh, at least in our opinion. stops of stabilisation, and when it’s mounted on the OM System OM-1 the stabilisation is boosted to up to 7. E-M1, 1/1000, f/4, ISO 400 – 12-100mm E-M1, 1/1000, f/4, ISO 640 – 12-100mm E-M1 II, 1/800, f/4, ISO 1250 – 12-100mm Pro E-M1, 1/1000, f/7. The Hoya 72mm Digital Filter Kit II comes in a handy filter pouch, which comprises a UV (C) HMC filter, a circular polarizer filter, and a 3-stop neutral density filter. Cameras with larger format sensors generally produce better than those with smaller ones, for example.

To see if there were any differences, I repeated the same test and found almost identical results: the two lenses perform in a very similar manner at all focal lengths and apertures at the centre and are at their best between f/4 and f/5.

Olympus M.Zuiko 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO - review / test report Olympus M.Zuiko 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO - review / test report

The 12-100mm, like its other Pro predecessors, is splashproof, dustproof, and freezeproof down to 14°F (-10°C). First of all - bigger is usually better in lens land and this lens is supposed to deliver a superior performance over the usual 14-150mm gang. I love that lens, I shot for a whole year with just that lens and with it captured some of my favourite images to date. These capable cameras should be solid and well-built, have both the speed and focus to capture fast action and offer professional-level image quality. There is only a minimum of light fall-off in the corners at f/4, which you will probably not even notice in your real-world photos, and distortion is commendably kept well under control too. IS Pro is a substantial zoom lens, but given the constant f/4 maximum aperture, that's perhaps no surprise. For the past few weeks we've been running a series of polls to find out what you - our readers - think of the major product releases of 2016. On long outings if one is concerned about running out of battery, simply take advantage of that handy switch when IS is more "optional" will help a lot.

That pointed me at the 12-100, but that's a much bigger lens than I'd like to carry for some situations (I do a lot of cycle touring when I travel). But you can still get quite nice blurred backgrounds if you keep plenty of distance between your subject and your background in the 100mm mode. And the Oly 12-50 will probably live with the 75mm so we can shoot some videos and vlogs, so my big kit bag will have all the bases covered. Our hope is that Olympus will eventually release a mark II version of this lens that features optical stabilisation. Zuiko 300mm f/4 PRO whose optical stabilisation, dubbed Sync IS, can be used in conjunction with the in-body stabilisation of the E-M1, E-M5 II, Pen F and E-M1 II.Fujifilm’s latest medium format flagship brings updated autofocus and faster shooting, but how does it compete with high-end full-frame models? PRO which rapidly became a favourite amongst many advanced amateurs and professionals, ourselves included. But this one really can do it all unexpectedly well, and potentially replace a two or three other lenses in your bag. Still a useful site, but better to rely on the judgement/s of those who have experience using various items being compared IMHO. You know, taking all the shots with one lens is something all professional cinematographers aspire for.

In short, it’s the type of one-lens solution that you would want to take to your planned or impromptu trips and capture all those wonderful scenes.I would consider the 12-45 f4 Pro to match up with my EM5 III, but since I already have the 12-100, I'm trying to think of ways to marry it and the 5. All-in-one ‘superzoom’ lenses with zoom ratios of 7x or greater are about convenience, requiring considerable optical compromises to achieve their extended range. This does demand optimum shooting conditions and good technique, including holding the camera to your eye rather than composing with the LCD.
