About this deal

Yes, Page may have more riffs and Clapton may, only may, rival BB in his solos but only Beck has moved on. Of course, these were Jeff Beck‘s followers, many of whom had seen him live throughout the various phases of his classic rock career, from the Yardbirds to the days of the Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart, out on the Jan Hammer Highway and into the future with Beck’s 2016 album, Loud Hailer. It was Great to see my Friend again, still playing and experimenting, and Collaborating, sharing his night with us.

Founding Editor of Guitar World magazine and Creative Consultant to the Jimi Hendrix Foundation, Noe Gold has worked for Crawdaddy and The Hollywood Reporter, The Village Voice and the New York Daily News. Not as good as 'Live at Ronnie Scott's' (because it doesn't have Imogen Heap's rendition of 'Rolling and Tumbling) but nonetheless awe-inspiring. Beck has surrounded himself with a cast of young players—much like the great bluesmen, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and, yes, Buddy Guy, have done. Together with a few chosen guests and his regular band of the moment he reminds us of the many musical periods he has played through in his career.

Un must absolu pour tout amateur de guitare, après son récent décès, de quoi s'apercevoir qu'il est sans aucun doute, sur la durée de son oeuvre, le plus grand guitariste de toute l'histoire du rock. Overall a must for Jeff Beck fans, although in my opinion the Live at Ronnie Scott’s album has the edge.

He’s also hugely respected by his peers, and is clearly and deeply committed to playing what he wants to play rather than chasing new markets. Then it was off to the races, with Beck leading his ensemble through a rapid-fire half-dozen Yardbirds and Jeff Beck Group rockers. The Blow By Blow-era “Freeway Jam” and the heart-rending instrumental “Because We’ve Ended As Lovers” set us up for Beck’s first special guest, Jan Hammer. Les invités le sont tout autant, Buddy Guy, Jan Hammer ou Billy Gibbons se montrent à la hauteur du maitre. Over Under Sideways Down” had the same youthful energy as it did when Beck and the lads were humping their equipment around England in a van with “Yardbirds” painted on the side of it.At least I’ll be gettin to see McLaughlin in less than a month with the great Jimmy Herring opening and doing a 3rd set of all Mahavishnu stuff with John. I have 4 other people's versions of 'I'd Rather Go Blind' in my collection, all of them good, but Beth can trawl those emotions up from deep inside herself and slap you in the face with them that bit better. His stories have appeared in GQ, USA Today, Rolling Stone, Premiere, The Movies and the Los Angeles Times Magazine. The author of articles and books on the music of Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Albert King, among others, his latest project is the forthcoming book, Hendrix Now!

Beck’s collaboration with the keyboardist was the cornerstone of his most creative period, and with this onstage reunion (“I am so thrilled to have the great Jan Hammer on keyboards,” Beck introduced), the faithful were satiated. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Backstory of a Legend, which features Mick Taylor, the late Alan Douglas and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Stevens, Joe Satriani, Leonard Nimoy and a few other Hendrix intimates and devotees in the ultimate followup to his seminal work started at Guitar World thirty years ago.He experimented with me, He gave me a history lesson on his career with the Yardbirds, these long bus rides he took with them, on Jimmy Page, dragging around his guitar on the ground. Gibbons, Jan Hammer, Beth Hart, Jimmy Hall and Buddy Guy and concluded with an group encore of “Purple Rain” in honor of Prince. The tribute to Prince with 'Purple Rain' is easily up there with Prince's own remarkable guitar prowess, so honours his memory well. Gibbons for a rousing rendition of “Rough Boy” and a slightly comical version of “16 Tons,” written by Merle Travis and popularized by Tennessee Ernie Ford (“another day older and deeper in debt”). There are one or two misfires - Beth Hart is a fine singer but she completely destroys "I'd Rather Go Blind" with vocal histrionics, and Billy Gibbons sounds limp (but he would after Buddy Guy, wouldn't he?

Il concerto si snoda senza cali di tensione di con un repertorio che spazia durante tutto l'arco della carriera di Jeff. At one point during their performance of “Blue Wind,” Beck pointed playfully toward Hammer, who took the cue and revved up the synth. Some of the songs work better than others; the original ‘Heart full of Soul’ and ‘For your Love’ for instance are never going to be bettered while ‘Shapes of Things’ and ‘Morning Dew’ both of which stick to the Rod Stewart versions fare much better, and the Buddy Guy and Billy Gibbons tracks are superlative. The setlist reached back to his first recordings with The Yardbirds in 1966 and came right up to date with tracks from his most recent album "Loud Haile. My favourite songs from this set are the ones featuring Steve Tyler, Buddy Guy, Billy Gibbons and Beth Hart.
