About this deal

You should start to notice the pain relieving effects of Nurofen Meltlets within 30 to 60 minutes of taking the tablets. Severe forms of skin reactions such as bullous reactions including Stevens- Johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme and toxic epidermal necrolysis can occur. But people don’t realize that using highly inflammatory substances causes more harm to their bodies than benefit. Have had a worsening of asthma, skin rash, itchy runny nose or facial swelling when previously taking ibuprofen, aspirin or similar medicines

Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health. Children between the age of 12 to 18 can also use this medicine. Children below the age of 12 must consult with a doctor, and only if they permit can they start the consumption. Do not give to children under 12 years. In children and adolescents between 12 and 18 years: If in children and adolescents this medicinal product is required for more than 3 days, or if symptoms worsen a doctor should be consulted.Nurofen Meltlets is a non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase, an enzyme invovled in prostaglandin synthesis via the arachidonic acid pathway. Its pharmacological effects are believed to be due to inhibition cylooxygenase-2 (COX-2) which decreases the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in mediating inflammation, pain, fever and swelling. Antipyretic effects may be due to action on the hypothalamus, resulting in an increased peripheral blood flow, vasodilation, and subsequent heat dissipation. Inhibition of COX-1 is thought to cause some of the side effects of ibuprofen including GI ulceration. Nurofen Meltlets is administered as a racemic mixture. The R-enantiomer undergoes extensive interconversion to the S-enantiomerin vivo. The S-enantiomer is believed to be the more pharmacologically active enantiomer. Peptic ulcer, perforation or gastrointestinal haemorrhage, sometimes fatal, particularly in the elderly. Melaena, haematemesis, ulcerative stomatitis, gastritis. Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.

But recently, it was revealed that this medicine is still being sold illegally in Britain. People are paying ten times more for this medicine now. The popularity of this medicine can be attributed to the fact that it offers instant pain relief. It is effective because of this medicine’s high quantities of inflammatory substances.

This medicinal product can mask symptoms of infection, which may lead to delayed initiation of appropriate treatment and thereby worsening the outcome of the infection. This has been observed in bacterial community acquired pneumonia and bacterial complications to varicella. When this medicine is administered for pain or fever in relation to infection, monitoring of infection is advised. In non-hospital settings, the patient should consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen.
