About this deal

For getting the best results, it should be made sure that the inside surface is free from impurities. Rye Oil Ltd can supply two other mould release agents, if you have particular requirements find them in our shop To avoid contamination of the reinforcement, it is advised that the shuttering oil is applied on the formwork before it is erected. Use string lines or marking paint to outline the area where the concrete will be poured. Make sure the lines are straight and at right angles to ensure a perfect shape. Step 3: Cutting and Assembling the Boards Both shuttering and framework use to accomplish the same task but the main difference lies in the fact that different materials use for accomplishing the task.

This is a water-based mould releasing agent which gives clean and stain free high-quality concrete. It is available in a sprayable form and ready to use as a direct application on required places. It should be applied in light film either by brush or mould oil sprayer. If it is over applied, excess oil should be drained before it dries. Pools of DSO cannot be allowed to dry as it causes surface retardation of concrete. In general practices, irrespective of the material of construction, formwork uses as a collective term (both for wooden and no wooden materials) Characteristics of good formwork The performance of shuttering oil is largely dependent on the type of formwork that is being used. For wooden formwork, straight refined, pale, paraffin-based mineral oil and oil-phase emulsion have been successfully used. The oil that is chosen should be capable of penetrating the wood to some extent while leaving the surface slightly greasy to touch. Contractors have tendency to use burnt oil which is available cheaper in the market which works as a form release agent.Preparation Of Used Moulds - All traces of adherent material either concrete or previous oil deposits must be removed prior to use. Moulds previously used with Dr.S.Bond Shuttering Oil will require only light brushing as the presence of fine dust will improve the wetting out properties of Dr.S.Bond Shuttering Oil. This will usually result in improved release properties on the second and subsequent uses of the mould.

For instance, in case of wooden formworks- straight refined, pale, paraffin-based mineral oil and oil phase emulsion can be successfully used. It is important to keep into consideration that the oil must be able to penetrate into wooden structure up to some extent, while also leaving a slightly greasy finish at the surface. One of the critical factors that govern the performance of shuttering oil is the type of formwork on which it is to use. Shuttering is the method of forming the mould using plywood, while formwork, on the other hand, denotes the same phenomena but with the use of a variety of materials. However, as Engineers, we overlook the disastrous effects it can have over the set concrete as well as the reinforcement which is coated with this oil and is generally not washed with detergent etc to remove the oil. It involves the use of a high-quality release agent that is applied to a framework to ensure that the concrete is effectively removed. This process allows easy and painless removal of a framework, preventing damage to both the framework and mould.

Introduction:

In all cases, the formwork must be sturdy and capable of bearing the not inconsiderable forces created by wet concrete, plus the weight and force of any vibration equipment. Any joints in the formwork should be taped or sufficiently tight to prevent matrix leaking out during vibration and/or curing. The tops of any shutter or roadform should be set so as to provide an accurate edge from which the tamper or beam screed can operate. All formwork, whether is be steel roadform or timber shuttering, needs to be coated with a Release Agent (Mould Oil) before any concrete is placed. The purpose of a Release Agent is to prevent the concrete bonding to the formwork and then 'scabbing' when the formwork is removed. They also help ensure the formwork stays clean and free from concrete, so that it can easily be re-used elsewhere.

Among all, timber is the most commonly used material for the framework. However, the big disadvantage associated with a timber frame is that it has a tendency to warp, swell and shrink. Do not worry if you don't see oil on shutter - it wont hurt structure (may be shutter get its life lowered) Our list of experience speaks for itself, that includes, our groups, clients like ACC LIMITED, GR INFRAPROJECTS, H.G. INFRA ENGINEERING, RDC CONCRETE, ULTRATECH CEMENT LTD. LAFARGE, L & T, JKUMAR INFRAPROJECTS, AFCONS INFRASTRUCTURE, APCO INFRASTRUCTURE ETC. ALL OVER INDIA. Depending on the size of your concrete base, you may need additional supports. Insert supporting stakes or props on the outside of the shuttering to prevent it from bowing out when filled with wet concrete. If it’s a large project, internal supports may also be necessary. Step 7: Shuttering Oil Application The use of barrier paints extends the life of the formwork by producing a hard-wearing surface on the formwork. If barrier paints are not used, it is advised to use three coats of shuttering oil before the shuttering is used for the first time.Use a spirit level to ensure that the top of the shuttering boards are perfectly horizontal. This is crucial because the top edge of the shuttering will define the level of the finished concrete surface. Step 5: Securing the Corners If you do not use oil on shutter - it wont harm concrete but it will lead to damages of shutter at earliest, which increases the cost of material and contractor get heavy losses due to it. This does not require any sort of dilution and hence can use instantly. An emulsion is a mixture of two or more liquids that are normally not mixable. Selection of type of shuttering-oil With concrete slabs, the freshly-poured concrete may be retained by existing features, such as walls, kerbs , edgings etc, or some form of temporary shuttering, also known as 'Formwork' may be required. On vertical concrete structures, the construction of the formwork can become quite complicated and is normally undertaken by specialist formwork erectors or formwork carpenters. Ground slabs are normally much less complicated and require only the simplest of formwork. Petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, other than crude; preparations not elsewhere specified or included, containign by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the preparations; waste oils--light oils and preparations---motor spirit----special boiling point spirits (other than benzene, benzol, toluene and toluol) with nominal boiling point range 63-70 degrees centigrade

Shuttering, also known as formwork, is one of the most critical aspects of any concrete project. It provides the mold into which concrete is poured and subsequently cured. Done correctly, shuttering ensures that your concrete base is of the desired shape, dimensions, and finish. However, any mistake in this process can lead to structural weaknesses, cosmetic issues, or costly repairs. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process of setting up shuttering for a concrete base the right way. Planning & Design Determine the Dimensions You should also take into consideration overhangs. Many buildings will have guttering or fascia boards which will overhang the footprint of the building. You do not want your building to overhang a neighbours boundary, or conflict with a wall for example. Material Selection DSO provides a damp proof interface that protects the formwork and ensures even texture and colour of concrete. Produces a high quality stain and blemish free concrete finish with minimum incidence of blow holes.

If reinforcement get coated with shutter oil due to heavy application, consider cleaning of reinforcement bars with detergent (coating of shuttering oil is most dangerous and can cause failures as it wont allow rebar to get bond with concrete) One must also note that while there will be some form release agents that works wonders with wooden formwork, they might not be a proper choice for steel formworks. For steel formwork, the form release agent should not only be free from water but must also contain rust inhibitors.
